Can you find this place in Morocco?
 

I'd like to follow part of the Africa Race but am struggling to find the two following locations Thursday 31st December 2009 LEG 4 : BORJ FRISSATE/ LA MOMIE Friday 1st January 2010 LEG 5 : LA MOMIE/ MRHIMINA and help is appreciated, before this the stop was a fort so these places are probably not towns...

Mrhimina is roughly at the intersection of a line drawn due south from Ouarzazate and due east of Tafraoute: N29 48 02.3 W7 09 58.5

Can't help with any oth the others I'm afraid

PS: Found it on Tracks4Africa.

Borj de Bei-Frissate is on the Rekkam Plateau close to the N17 running south from Oujda (nearest town on the N17 is Tendara), approx N33 07.960 W2 17.460.

I've never heard of 'The Mummy' but judging from route and distances I would guess it's somewhere around the Merzouga area. Maybe it's where they filmed 'The Mummy'???

Thanks for the replies so far La Momie also threw up a couple of places in google maps for me related to the Mummy film but looked too far east, I will be able to get a better idea now I have a couple of the other points.

Still can't find it... it's driving me mad.

I got a reply from the Africa Race organisers and they said it's near Rissani, (nr Erfoud) still can't find an exact place though I suspect it will be obvious on the day with so many cars and trucks around.

It's 16km outside Rissani, right side of the road to Alnif.

The Mummy
 

Hi.

Just new on the hubb... but 31 years traveling in Morocco.
The Mummy filmset is located on a beautiful spot in eye-site of the road. It's a former French army post based in a horse-shoe shaped mountain.
By building a 2m thick wall the french legion closed the opening in the mountain in order to create a safe place behind it. Quite impressive to see. Also the 360 degrees view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking.
