Camping on the beach..Morocco????
 

Planning a trip to Morocco.
We really fancy a couple of nights camping on a beach somewhere.
Is it possible?? Any places to recommend??

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing just make sure it's NOT on the beach just set up camp some place out of the way, where noone can see you.
And under NO circumstances light beach fires as good as they look in the movies they lure ships inland, a very bad thing to do.

I think the average ship can tell the difference between a LIGHTHOUSE and a beach fire..... and the purpose of a LIGHTHOUSE is to WARN of a danger...not LURE a ship to land...... your thinking of the 'Sirens' a MYTHICAL Mermaid like Creature.......

Beach camping is probably easiest south of Tan Tan and in Western Sahara as it will be less populated. You can generally camp anywhere off the coastal road. In parts the road runs along a cliff front rather than an actual beach, so just make sure you don't stagger out of your tent in the morning expecting to dive straight in the water......

Hi, Beach camping is fine, just not fun anywhere north of Agadir.
If you want to beach camp to be alone, it’s pretty much impossible north of Agadir.
South, it’s a different story. There’s a piste that runs along the beach within the bird sanctuary just south of Agadir where you can chill. Further on places we have tested are a little piste that leaves from a well on the coast road, Foum Assaka, Plage Blanche, Foum El Oued Draa (good fishing near Ksar Tafnidilt), and then quite a few nameless beaches as you get towards and into the Western Sahara.
Just go, play it by ear. Some feel safe where others fear for their lives; I don’t know where you stand on that scale, so I can’t really say more. In Morocco I’ve only gone into campsites to empty the toilet, empty the rubbish, and fill up with water once a week if that. Otherwise we’ve always bivouacked, asking permission if/where there is someone to ask, and behaving modestly. We’ve never felt unwelcome, or potential targets; and further south you go the more welcoming the people become (further north i.e. Europe, the population is really very unwelcoming).

Beach fires: IMHO ships are not endangered by a fire on the beach, they have other nav means (GPS, radio beacons etc.) It’s more the small private fishing boats that you could confuse. You’ll probably want to light the fire on the lee (landward) side of the car anyway, the wind’s pretty constant on the Atlantic coast.
I would be opposed to beach fires because the use a resource already relatively rare in the region, that many locals use for cooking: wood. If you’re cooking, you’re no worse than a local, the desert will advance because of all of us. If it’s just to have a fire, beach party style, remember that the person (usually the woman) who must find wood for tomorrow’s cooking will have to walk further to find theirs after you’ve burnt what’s nearby.
