Ban on CB Radio's?

:ban:

Hey guys, we have fitted a CB radio to our Peugeot 306 but i've just heard a rumour that they are banned in Morocco? Can anyone share any light on this at all?

Will it be ok through Europe, Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia?

If not is it ok to just hide it or will i still get in "s**t" if they discover it?

Many thanks

CB Ban?

If you just hide it at the border crossing I’m sure you’ll be OK. We have been stopped numerous times by the Police in Morocco with a CB and arial on plain view and it’s never been a problem.

Speaking with a guy who worked in the tourist industry in Morocco, I was said that if somebody is caught with a sat phone, he will be detained on suspiction of working in the contraband of hachis towards Algeria.

So, are sat phones banned in Morocco?
If you are a local definitely.
If you are a foreigner and hide it at the border, maybe not.
Maybe the same applies to CB radios.

Actually, third world countries have usually absurd laws, which makes everything illegal. That's one of the reasons of the endemic corruption.

BTW, did you know that in order to take out of Morocco foreign currency, you should have declared it when entering the country?

I really don't think you will have any problems having a CB in Morocco, I never have and never tried to hide the fact I had one, even at the border.

Maybe years ago there were problems but not anymore so it seems.
