Hi guys,
we're planing our first time trip from Vilnius, Lithuania to Dakar this January. We're going with four cars all 2wd old diesel mercedesses. First big question: entering Senegal from Mauritania for EU citizens, what are the possibilities for obtaining visas for Senegal on border. We're planing to sell our cars after the trip in Senegal and fly back to Europe. Besides, I have heard about problems entering Senegal from Mauritania with car older than five years; what about entering from Mali? Any suggestions for selling cars in Mauritania, Senegal, Mali or Gambia would be wellcome.

Firstly get the visa situation sorted out. Senegal or ther other countries may not accept a Lithuanian passport with no visa, EU member or not. The same applies to Gambia. The senegalise embassy in Nouakchott is not very approachable either. Even then I am not sure if the new EU members are exempt from visas in Senegal.

It is not possible to sell the cars in Senegal. There are other postings here about that. It should be very easy to sell the cars in mauritania, there are a lot less formalities these days. There are also no formalities in Gam,bia and there is a good market there.
