Just in case it is of interest to anyone else hoping to travel on the 8th November, I just received this reply From Salah:

Would you visit my website to know the price: takourny We have a muslim feast on 15/11and we have a vacation for 4 days so I am not sure about the barge on 8/11 cause the traffic of the travellers in those days like the normal level,,,So you should follow my site cause I will announce about the ferry and the barge... Any news on ferry for the 8th?
 

Hi Robin, my wife and i are in Cairo and have made a reservation for the first of Nov ferry but because we are American citizens we are getting extra special attention with our Sudan visa and might need more time to sort it out. Are you still planning to take the ferry on the 8th? Did you recieved any other information about the ferry for this day? thanks, Jason
P.S. have you had to renew you visas for Egypt?

Hi, we just booked for the ferry on the 8th with 2 bikes and 4 people so it is running. there is a rumour that the 15th may not be running.
We have not had to renew our Egyptian visas.
