Algeria, Tunisia, Lybia to Egypt
 

We were going to ride thru Lebanon, Syria and Jordan to get to Egypt but that seems not to be feasable now. Starting in Istanbul, where is the best/closest ferry to either Algers, Tunis or a Lybian port so we can enter Egypt thru the west.

Also, does anyone have any idea about exiting Egypt thru Jordan, we really want to see Petra, and Israel/Haifa to Cypress?

We are still in Mongolia and have to ship the bike to Moscow for major repairs. May even have to replace the bike to continue. If anyone knows of a good Bike in Moscow, I's be interested in talking to the owner.

In 2002 we had no problem at all to go from Egypt to Jordan on bike. We just took the ferry-boat from Nuweiba to Aqaba (3 hours navigation), no need of previous visa, it is issued at the border (at least for us, who are italians).

Just be prepared to waste several hours at the borders, especially on the egyptian side. Of course you need the carnet de passage for Egypt.
