Algeria North

Hello,
I would like to ask almost the same question: Is there anybody that has been in the recent times to the North-East Algeria, to the forested zone? North-west would be even more interesting, but I suspect that that one's even more dangerous than the places around the Tunesian border. I have been to north Tunesia and the border is open and I've met many Algerians that assured me that there's no problem with visiting-and roaming freely-in the forests on the north-East side. I am a biologist, that's why I am interested.
Thank you for your answers,
Tomas

Hello Tomas,

wherever you have population and terrain someone can hide, you may face some risk. Not travelling in a group makes you less interesting, but with the handling of the hostage affair by the affected countries, their citizens are probably seen as "chequebook on two legs".

As violence may even grow before the presidential elections next year, Algeria is a no-go at least until then (in my opinion and that of many other travellers with some experience in Algeria)

Regards,
Peter
