I've used these many times before Free worldwide Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap
It's a bit of a chew on with uploading as you are put in a que then you can only put a set amount of maps on in one down load,
That site has precomplied maps ... if you just stick to their selected countries on the pull down bits then the download is available straight away. Will still take some time for the download itself. Only if you need a combination of one or more countries and maybe some added areas .. then you need to wait while the custom map is compiled for you.
