Garmin Nuvi 2xx usb cable workaround
 

Hi, did a search and didn't find whether this was already mentioned, but just saved me a few pennies ordering new cables/12v sockets for the bike.

I wanted to charge my Garmin Nuvi 205w with a standard USB cable ( i have USB sockets on the bike ) but everytime i plugged in the mini USB to the bike, the satnav would enter PC mode. If you have this same problem, try this:

1) Disconnecting the nuvi from the charging cable.

2) Press and hold the battery meter icon for 8 seconds. This puts the nuvi into "system test" mode.

3) Plug in the power cable.

4) Click "Exit." The nuvi should now reboot, but remain in GPS mode.
