It would not find ANY of those destinations.

You wont find them with the City Navigator Europe maps. They aint there!
Garmin have a policy of dropping duplicate names in the CNEU maps.
If you use Topo V2 maps they are routable

I use a 278C
From your info, I created a route using Garmin's Mapsource with CityNav (CN) and you upload to the gps using mapsource too.

If you cannot find a town etc in mapsource or the garmin, you use GE or a paper map to find the coords, create waypoints then let CN calculate the route - depending on your choices/avoids etc

The trouble is Bert, that they are selling something not fit for purpose.
If you go back to the CN Europe V8, you can do the routing he wants. With 2009 and newer, yer buggered. They dropped the dup place names.

I have 2008 - a bit old, and all versions since. The only one I can find my hamlet on is V2 Topo. Not good enough and if Garmin don't sort this soon, they will loose more and more users.
You, me and lots of others here can "get round it", but why the hell should we!?

Thanks for understanding my problem with it. But it goes deeper than just dropping duplicate place names. My home address is misspelt and as a result you can't find it. I think there are duplicate 'le gros chaitagniers' but there is only one 'Pussy' (don't laugh).

On the road, I would not have access to a computer to route plan and download, what the box can't do I can't do.

Not only not 'fit for purpose' but does not do what is implied on the box. Worse the map updates cost £80 another £30 for UK traffic cameras. + another £20 for France cameras, they do a deal for all Europe for £50 .
Tom Tom will supply map update on sdhc for less and all Europe traffic cameras are £20.
For the next trip I am buying a paper map for Spain and Italy at around £8 a piece.
