Garmin 60Cx or CSx

Hey,
I have been searching around for a while now.. and have read too many posts and all i have done is get myself confused... I have managed to narrow down my GPS choices to a couple of different ones, BUT I cant see the difference between the Garmin 60Cx and the CSx??? According to the the Garmin site (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/compare....ompare=compare)
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is CSx has an electronic compass and barometic altimtere?? But the price is 50£ diffent.. surely this can not be true?? All GPS can act as a compass... my 15yr old etrex has that ablitly.. so what gives?

What is the difference... My brain hurts...

yours,
lost and confused.

You are right about he differences.
The barometric altimetre is more accurate then the one in the GPS and it works even when the GPS has lost contact with the satellites.

A GPS can act as a compass, but only as long as it has contact with the satellites and you are moving, a compass shows you the right direction all the time.

Is it worth 50£? I don’t think so….

I have the Garmin 76CSX and I am very happy with it.
I see on your link that you can get one for $428.56
Why spend more for the 60CX or 60CSX.
They have the same functions.

Only when it has been calibrated .. and you have to calibrate it when ever the weather changes the barometric pressure .. your not going to fuss with it on a real trip!

Local magnetic anomalies excepted.

I got the 60Cx. I've fallen off at over 80km/h in deep sand .. the screen got cracked in two place .. but the unit continued to function for teh rest of the way hame .. about 2 weeks. They are tough little things .. I do keep on droping it - no real damage. Got an exchange unit off Garmin for the cracked screen

The 76 has the buttons at the top of the display .. so I think you need more dexterity to use them while watching the screen.

And both are only as accurate as the calibration.

A barometric altimeter must be set to a local altimeter setting. Where are you going to get that readily unless you call the weather office or aviation weather?

Same for the electronic compass.
