Red Kite Camp - Baskerville Hall - September 2022

In the absence of the HUBBUK meeting in 2022 I am planning on going to the Red Kite Camp at Baskerville Hall 23-25 September 2022. As things stand attendance at the camp is restricted to Moto Guzzi Club GB members, their guests and other invited groups. Now I don’t know the format of the camp other than from a report in the club magazine and I was wondering if anybody else was planning on going?

As I don't have a Guzzi I guess the 'doors' will be firmly slammed in my face if I turn up.

My plans currently have me over in West Wales that weekend so Baskerville is (roughly) in the right direction, but I'm not sure if I'll be going by car or bike.

Part of me wonders whether the local group would tolerate a bunch from here booking on as an invited group - more for the coffers but diluting the Moto Guzzi numbers.

Just ask, you never know! More bodies IS a huge help for the organizers, if not critical.

I have asked the question. One thing is that Guzzi riders have a habit of going out and about on the continent and so there may be a neat overlap where HU can add to their camp without distracting from it.

Well, I have had a reply. They were wondering how many people from HU would be going - obviously I haven’t a clue and I suspect that they won’t want to be overwhelmed - meaning I would have to go back to them with a number that we wouldn’t exceed - obviously if you are a member of the Moto Guzzi Club of GB then you wouldn’t count against HU numbers. So, who wants to go? The dates are 23-25 September (possibly the same weekend as the French HU meeting looking back at other years). Also, would anyone want to do a presentation / demonstration so that we don’t just bring bodies to the meeting?

Looks like it will work

Well according to the Next HU Events column, the France do is scheduled for 16-18 September. So that will not clash.

If I am in the country in September I will definitely will be interested, since Moto Guzzies are a favourite mark, combining a Guzzi rally with a HU event would be a no brainer for me.

But in these uncertain times it is difficult to make a commitment. If the opportunity comes to travel next year then that is where my priority lies.

I am pleased about the lack of clash - I was wondering if the dates would fall nicely.

I’m not after a commitment - just trying to get some idea of numbers that are interested so I can go back to the organisers with an indication.

As a point of reference the 2021 Red Kite Camp had 150 people there and they organised ride outs on the Saturday - three different routes - and on the Saturday night there was a band playing. The camp disbursed around lunchtime on the Sunday
