Entrants in The Great Around The World Adventure Rally Start Africa Stage
 

The "Soft Butt Team" of # 7 and # 9 have started the third stage of The Great Around The World Adventure Rally in southern Africa. They proclaim, "We're far from the world's toughest riders."

Any HU travelers wanting to connect for purposes of trading road tales, swapping warnings about good/bad people along the way, repairs, and general gossip are invited to PM me.

The Great Around The World Motorcycle Adventure Rally, Great Around The World Motorcycle Adventure Rally is not granting any interviews with the motorcycle media, but may release fake news to keep the surveillance drones from following them.

The Soft Butt Team will be in southern Africa until Macrh 1, when they pit stop and then relocate themselves and equipment to Europe for the fourth stage (Europe) and then the final stage, a dash across Russia or Asia.

Not living in a state of cognitive dissonance, one team member noted, "We could have done the route we took on a Gold Wing or 49 cc Honda Cub. Times have significantly changed from 1998 when it was a real mud struggle."

The Team has continued not to seek out or grant media interviews. Some fake news has been cyber floated to feed FB junkies and rumored Twitterati.

First photo below is the route taken through Africa in 1979 by Jan-Lucas de Vos and his three mates on 1979 Yamaha XT500s well before the Bavarian company had even conjured the term G/S. Second photo is of de Vos having a little fun with his fully loaded XT500 in Africa. He had received new clutch plates through the Dutch Embassy, likely what today would be called a diplomatic pouch. He shared his great tale of adventure before motorcycle travel was called adventure touring.
