Hi Joe,
Absolutely great. :thumbup1: Looking forward to seeing you and Carmel there. Regards, Shane |
Volunteers anyone?
Interested in being part of something big? Join us at the 2014 ATFF! We are looking for volunteers for some roles such as registration desk, setup etc. Usually just two hours at a time, not too big a demand on your time as you're there to have a great time. If you are interested, please let me know. Thanks.

Would love to go in Feb 13, ( will be living in Wodonga as of DEc 13)
Regards Paul |
Hi Paul,
Great to hear from you. Volunteers get a free ticket and two t-shirts; however you may not get to see as much of the films and presentations as you may like. Hopefully we get enough volunteers that each individual doesn't miss out on too much and also gets to see their respective favourites. I see that via the C527 and B500 that Wodonga is only 1 1/2 hours from Bright, so that should be a great ride down. Should I put you down on my volunteer list? Regards, Shane |
ATFF Tickets are on sale now

My tip is to get your tickets and accomodation ASAP if you are thinking about coming. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9wfcpife3...+POSTER+v1.jpg BTW, I'm riding down from Brisbane. Planning on going down to Gippsland and then doubling back to Bright. Looking for a spare room here and there on my way down if anyone is willing to share. |
What date are you heading down ?
|
Is there any chance of being a standby/maybe volunteer? Does that make sense? I'm just about to get started on my round-oz trip on an xr600, but I don't and won't have a definitive plan or itinerary. I've got an idea I might be in Vic doing a bit of farm work or something in Feb, but not definate. If I am, then I'd fancy coming to the festival and wouldn't mind doing a spot of volunteer work to save a few $$.

So I'll probably leave on Friday 7 Feb 2014 and take my time. Open to ideas of places to see and stay. Regards, Shane |

So yes, I'll put you on the volunteer list. Send me a private message with your details, if that's OK. Just let me know when you roll into town that you are there. |

Hi Shane,
Carmen and I will be happy to pitch in at the stand for a couple of hours:helpsmilie:. We hadn't planned on getting there till Saturday lunch time but I guess we can make an effort and be there first thing saturday morning. |
Hi Joe,
That's great news. We need volunteers Saturday and Sunday morning afternoon, so if you can't make it until Saturday afternoon, I'll put you down for Sunday morning? I really appreciate the help and I reckon that this will be the best year yet, by quite a margin. Thanks, Shane |
Draft Schedule
Hi everyone,
Draft schedule for the 2014 ATFF: http://www.landau.com.au/ATFF/Festiv...014_261013.pdf Should be good. Regards, Shane |

Great Joe,
I've got you and Carmel down for the first shift, which in theory, should start at 9:00 AM. So if you could be there at 8:50, just to cater for setup and early birds that would be great. I'm hoping to get enough volunteers for two-hour shifts only. Thanks again and looking forward to ctaching up with you both. |

Film from 2013 ATFF
Found a short for one of last year's films. Whilst not on the schedule for this year, it gives an insight into the content and quality of the films shown each year. The short can be found at:

Anyone can recommend a decent camp spot?

Bright backpackers is cheap about $15 a night for camping .its a bit rundown though . Its nickname is camp krusty
|
I don't know about the backpackers, but the caravan park wanted $35pn for an unpowered patch.
I opted for a self-contained apartment (sharing with others) where I can cook my own meals for only a bit more than the campsite. Try getting a small group together and you can bring the price down to $40pn for a real bed. Ovens View Holiday Flats |
How did you score that Scootergal?
Well, I would be open to share if anyone willing. Alain Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Thanks to all HU volunteers
Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I the film festival. Since then, I've returned home and started back at uni. This semester's subjects are even more interesting than previous, so it kind of sucked me in a fair bit. That's pretty much why its taken me so long to get around to sending you all a thank you note. If I mention names, I may miss some out and that's the thing I want to do. What I will say id that the HU group basically ran the registration desk and merchandising as well as a range of other things such as filling in AV positions, setting up and packing up as well. The event would not have been the success it was without you all. The best part though wasn't the help, although that was bloody fantastic. It was getting to catch up with some old friends and meeting/making new friends. Without a doubt there every single volunteer turned out to be helpful and interesting and re-inforced to me why I attend these things. For me, its not the films, although they are great, its the people, you guys and so I say thanks and as we used to say in the RAAF, 'I tip my hat to you'. Hope to catch up again in the forseeable future. Regards, Shane |
Straight back at ya buddy.
Shall we book in for next year? |
Looks like a great program of films! How many folks showed up, all in, in
Australia? I'm wondering if Austin & Lois have plans to take this show on the road again? IIRC, they did screen some films at the Overland Expo event in Arizona, but haven't heard much for 2014. Any plans afoot to bring this program of films on the road around the USA? I imagine there may be some new films too, but hopefully they'll hang onto some of the previous ones too! :thumbup1: California could be a be good place to do the festival. With enough promo, should bring in a good crowd and make it worthwhile. Perhaps do one in So Cal and another in Nor Cal? Local HU communities could probably help finding venues and doing promotion. Question? Is there a CD available of the 2013 film program? Link? |
I'm not sure what the plans are for 2015 but ther should be a USA festival as there were two in 2012 and one in 2014. Google Adventure travel film festival and it should find the main web site. From there navigate to the USA site, I think you click on a Stars and Stripes flag. Cds / dvds of the program, not yet, but I think Mondo Sahara can be bought from Austin's own web site. Its worth watching a few times over, as you pick up a few things over time.
|
Cheers,
Visited Austin's web site for festivals. No mention of taking the show on the road beyond UK and Aus. Also checked out the Overland Expo site (where Lois and Austin had presented previously). No mention of them, but they do a list a few films by producers I'd never heard of. Appears some things have changed .... :innocent: |
|
Nice, very nice.
|
See you all next year.
