Shipping from Morocco
 

Hi,
Can anybody suggest how i can ship a bike from Morocco to Australia. I'm am going to break the bike down into two crates and ship it as parts as the bike has overstayed in Morocco.
Shipping companies etc??????

Unless you have been advised to do this, I can't see shipping a bike in parts fooling Customs. (The usual partial dismantling to reduce volume does make sense for a container, but I imagine would be cheaper/less risky and less complicated in one crate.)

But I also can't see Moroccan Customs making difficulties with an intact bike, given the situation of the last year (you had/have to leave but were unable to take the bike with you). My bike had been stranded there for well over a year; I can't see overstaying being a problem getting it out when that's possible. But I did lodge it with Customs at the airport when I flew out in a hurry,

Shipping/air freighting to/from Morocco is extremely rare because of the hassle involved (thought outbound ought to be easier).
I recall one report on here in the last 2 years of a guy who air freighted from Canada.

Casa and Tangiers are the main ports, but you might consider air freight : costs more but arrives in a matter of days, not months.

You also might try to contact a bike shipping (air and sea) specialist.
There must be a few mentioned on this website on the shipping pages: Shippio and Moto Freight are 2 UK outfits I have dealt with.
They have the resources and know-how to find the most expedient deal.

Chris has given you very good advice in his post above: Don't play games with the Moroccan customs people.

Morocco has a tourist-oriented economy, and if you explain the problem to Customs (the overstay was caused by the COVID pandemic), the customs guys will most probably smile, wave you through, and tell you that they hope you will come back and visit again.

But, if you try to fool them, you will be caught for sure (they have a very sophisticated computer tracking system there for vehicle imports & exports), and worse still, the customs guys will be offended that you tried to cheat, and the consequences will be unpleasant.

I have first-hand experience with the same problem you have: My motorcycle is presently in Tunisia, I had to leave it there in April 2020 when I evacuated due to COVID. Tunisia has a very strict rule that foreign vehicles can only be imported for a maximum of 6 months. I phoned Tunisian customs last month to advise them that I would probably not be back to get it until fall 2021, this because Tunisia is not yet open for tourists... the customs guys said "No worries, we understand, there's lots of other folks just like you with the same problem, come and get it whenever you are ready".

As for how to get it from Morocco to Oz - I have no idea. How did you get the bike there in the first place? Maybe just reverse the direction? Otherwise, I think your best bet might be to take the ferry across to Spain, then ship the bike to Oz from the EC, rather than from Morocco.
