Routes not to miss in Morocco

Hello everyone,

I am a Spanish writter, I mostly write about my motorcycle trips. I've been hired to write a motorcycle guide of Morocco. I'm doing a bit of investigation on my own, but I'd like to know the voice of experienced riders. In your experiencie, what are the essential routes that cannot be missed in Morocco?

Thanks!

Are you serious? How can you write about routes from segundomano information?

Tim, I'm think he is gathering information to go there and do the routes himself. Am I right saliadarunavuelta? :)

Obviously. I am departuring the day after tomorrow and I will spend one month there. I just wanted some suggestions in case someone has a special route that thinks should be included in a guide, that's all.

saliadarunavuelta, if you are crossing from Algeciras just stop for a beer.

The best advice is to keep off the N (national) roads which are too busy with mad taxi drivers and buses and concentrate on the R (regional) and P (provincial) roads.

There are many ways to enjoy Morocco. Difficult to say what roads are not to miss. Some will prefer dirt roads and mountain pistas (isn't it why we ride Morocco?) and others will prefer paved roads. I've seen many bikes on street tires in Morocco. I guess they missed some of the fun... ;-) Also, Morocco is huge. if you spend a month, perhaps you can experiment both ways.

I suggest the journalist to start spending time on Youtube and write down tracks on a map.

Also, let us know what kind of roads you are looking for. And please don't do another National Geographic kinda report. It was laughable unless you never rode Morocco. ;-)

Start sleeping in the old train station in Tendrara near the Algerian border. It was part of Trans Sahara railway from the colonial years. Right beside, you have remains of a WW2 forced labour camp... Then ride East along the Algerian border until you get caught by an army outpost. Spend half a day there... Lotsa fun to have in Morocco. ;-)

A good read to find out is Morocco Overland by Chris Scott, and look carefully at Tim Cullis' Morocco Knowledge base. There sure is plenty to ride and enjoy. Safe travel there, it will be extremely hot!
