Place to stop on ME1

Well my plans for my Maroc trip appear to be coming on well, but it looks like I could do with a little help on a point.

I am aiming to do no more than 300km per day on the roads and 200km on the pistes, just to give me plenty of time to stop and stare!

I've got a route planned from Taza through the Middle Atlas mountains and on to Missour. I then wanted to carry on down the ME1 and then take the ME4 to camp out at the 'Korima Pass'.

Taking a long look at it, I think I might end up running out of time as it would be 4 hours to Missour and probably 3 hours to end of ME1 I might make it, but I don't want to go at it like a mad man and not have any stop and stare time!

I didn't fancy stopping at Missour, so can anyone reccomend a good rough camping site towards the southern end of ME1, somewhere between Azdad and Talsint? I'd even consider plusher accomodation if anyone knows of anywhere. It seems to be fairly off the beaten track by all I can find out though.

Thanks for your help!

Can't locate Azdad, but there's lots of spots between Missour and Talsint where you could pull over and wild camp.

There's supposed to be accommodation at Talsint but I couldn't find it and nobody was being at all helpful so I ended up sleeping in someone's store cupboard. On the positive side there is fuel.

Thanks Tim,

Azdad is in Chris's book, about half way between Missour and Talsint. Its probalby a tiddgy village.

I am liable to be arriving late on a Friday night so I really don't want to be bothering people about accomadation. I am happy to camp out. What is the ground like around there? Have we left verdant fields behind yet or are there still places where there is a bit of grass?

Cheers

Dave

It will be arid down there Dave.
The only verdant fields are irrigated crops in the oases or back in Shropshire.
But if you have a vehicle to take on the Korima Pass route then you can simply head anywhere off road for a break, as Tim says.

I seem to recall Azdad was a place where some riders where able to wait out a flood in a cafe for a day or two.
