Morocco/WS on seaside campsite, run by Dutch?

Hi,

Apologies for the slightly random subject line, but the details are sketchy.

I have heard of a campsite, on the beach/cliffs, run by a Dutch (I think) couple. It's somewhere just off the road on the run south to Mauri.

Any help finding it would be great - I've been telling myself for years that I want to check it out.

Travel safe, Sam.

Not thinking of Le Roi Bedouin, just north of Laayoune are you? Can't find any co-ordinates for it on my notes but Mr Google will have them.

Edit - N27 27.755 W13 03.939

That's it, great, thank you!

Sam.

I've stayed there too, its a bit off the main road (3k's maybe??), just follow the signs on the track, nice people, good food & great views.

there is a semi official wild camp at Laayoune Plage, some km off the road, when tarmac hits the sea turn right, two more km to go and you're there ... very safe ... general's or something residency just a few hundred meters further on :)

They are not Dutch they are Belgians. Very nice place to stop.

The Roi Bedouin is at N27.461704 W13.051763 - when we stopped there in January, there was a NEW Belgian owner with his Berber wife. (The previous middle-aged couple have left.) Very nice people. Good place to stop.

Here's the sign to look for ...

Thanks for all the help, good place.

Easy to find, big sign off to the west from the highway, about 20km north of Laayoune.

Safe travels, Sam.

Just had a thought about this one .... it's not exactly "on the beach" .... as the crow flies, it's about 18kms to the water's edge!:cool4:

If you fancy a longer off-road adventure to reach the campsite you can leave the road at N27 35.635 W12 57.089 and follow the piste that heads west here. It runs along the northern edge of the Sebjet Um Ed Deboaa before heading down the western edge of the sebjet and onto the campsite.

See pics 8/9 at S10 Carry on Dakar!

Sorry to hear of the departure of Luc and Martine, let's hope she passed on the recipe for the camel tagine!
