Morocco- Tagmout to Assa
 

I'm just making up rough plans for a trip to Morocco.

Got a quick question. Getting from Tagmout to Assa is it possible without using tarmac roads too much?

The road seems to go a fair bit out of the way to get there, is it possible to go off-piste and make our own way there?

The distances don't look too difficult although it does look rather hilly and rocky, does anyone have any experience or tips for me?

Assuming you mean the Tagmout north of Assa (MA4) then I don't think cross country routes are possible in this area - look how even MA4 weaves around the ranges to get from Fask.
You could cut out some road by heading for the highway at MA4/KM22 (as in the MO book), turn left at the highway then right, south for Tadait and take MW4 or better still MW5 around to Assa. But from Aoueinat T it's tar back to Assa.
MA and MW are great areas IMO.

I heading for Assa to go down the M13 to Smara.
