Le Relais Du Marrakesh

Closed today due to flooding, cancelled our hotel booking, very good of them they rang the office to warn us in advance,

Not sure how long the clear up will take?

Hello Mr Russel!

First of all, we would like to announce our apologies. our campsite is flooded and everywhere the water flows. because of unplanned thunderstorms on Marrakech and our accommodations are filled with water and mud everywhere
we understand that it can drag problems in your program but we can not escape a chance destiny. but we would be at your disposal to find you other places elsewhere.

Big storms last night I think Russ, have you tried Ourika camp on the south of the city?

Lac Iriki is still flooded, Lac Maider pretty bad but passable on the southern edge apparently. Group of bikers got stuck today between Mhamid and Erg Cheggaga.

They had some really bad storms over the last couple of weeks but it seems to be passing off to the north now

Hi Mark,

Libby is all sorted and in Marrakesh now, she got pulled by police on the motorway checked D16 and passports.

She has the day off tomorrow and going over Tizi n Test on Thursday, Just trying to find out if it suffered or not.

Le Relais the swimming pool gone, walls down its a big mess and will take some clearing up.

I am not due there until the first week of November so will keep checking the posts, I would not have liked to have been camping there when it hit!

It has been pretty brutal from what I’ve seen online.

Weird the police wanted D16’s and passports. Maybe it’s all those flash 4x4’s!

Reports I’ve heard so far are things are Ok are Agoudal and Imichil. Tichka has had some problems and closures last weekend.

Not heard anything about the Test so far. I’m in contact with a string of people dotted across from Mirleft to Todra so if I here anything I’ll let you know.

Have you got the Morocco Traffic news app MaRoute? I’ve not tried it yet but might have relevant traffic info.

Currently enjoying Brittany Ferries finest entertainment with a beer

I am in Maroc in late Nov and my wife is flying into Marrakech on 3 Dec.

We were planning to camp at Relais to relax for a few days before moving South so will be interested in all updates to this thread.

Hope damage at Relais is not to severe for them as its ranks way up on Maroc campsite scale. Is the pool gone as in damaged or,gone as in under water?:(

 Brilliant.
Sorry to hear about Le Relais though, one of my favourite stopovers, hope they have it sorted soon, they're a great bunch of people.

I hope the weather's better now Russ, I was nearly caught out on MS12 a few years back, another reason not to camp in a wadi.

I've met Libby a few times at various shows, cracking lass, she told me then she gets pulled over by the police, I said it's no suprise in a non-pc way, humbly suggesting it's a downside of being attractive and blond.

Perhaps we can have that beer Mark, if you're still about.

beerto all and safe travels.
