Ideas for short bicycle trip Atlas

I have 5 days to ride from Marrakesh in Morocco. Want to ride quiet roads/pistes; not worried about doing some big climbing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a route which might be 430/440km in length?

Really want remote beauty, some quiet, interspersed with a couple of towns for resupply/kebabs.

We will then take a taxi back to Marrakesh on the 6th day.

Anyone have any good route ideas; been looking at some of the Sahara overland routes and threading them together.

Hi Joe, up the Test, as you are planning.
If you want lodging aim for Al Mouhadine blue hotel @ 1300m, 110km from Marrakech, just after Ijoukak and Tin Mel ruined mosque.
I imagine that's a full day?
Next day 1000m/35km to the top, then long freewheel down the sunny side to the junction.
From there 65km east to Taliouine tourist town - a bit busy this road but no choice. Auberges at the far (east) end. 140km
From Tali along N10 up onto the plateau then turn south for Agadir Melloul village (shop). Will be chilly and bleak, then drop to the desert via palmy Tisnass' and Akka Ighern: 120km. Lovely quiet desert road but no obvious lodging in either of these places, afaik. Ask around - all part of the adventure!
Next lodging is Tissint on the border highway - another 40km.
From there 70km to Foum Zguid. A few hotels. I like Iriki, on the left, south end of town. Always empty, good grub and great wifi.
That's over 400kms worth. Pretty sure you can get back from FZ to Marrakech in a day - probably changing in Ozt.
FZ northwards is a great ride but broken up for ~40km before junction east for Agdz and the climb to Tazenacht.
Tazenacht to/towards Ozt either way also nice, if you have time/energy.
If doing that I suggest bush taxi from Foum to Taz to avoid broken road.

Hi Chris,

Some decent suggestions there. I'll look at some maps today.

We will be camping all the way for sure!!

Don't feel you have to ride the bike the whole way. Concentrate on identifying really choice sections, then use the bus/local truck service to get over the boring bits—or in my case, uphill climbs!
