I need an engine bringing from spain to morocco

i am broken down in morocco and need a vehicle engine that i am having delivered next week to malaga - or further south - bringing to morocco - does anyone know of a transport company that can do this?

Try contacting Peter at Morocco Offroad Motorcycle Tours - Bikershome Tours Morocco He has a base in Morocco and in Spain and could be commuting between the 2.

Good luck!

thanks chris...we have been stranded in safi on a street by a building site for ten days so will try anything!

Peter is currently in Morocco until 24 March. Hana from Motoadventours is also currently in Morocco. But either might be able to suggest someone.

thanks tim...already been speaking with hana but she is tied up with tours...hoping still for a reply from peter...frantically searching online...

It's a long shot but you could try messaging David Sobredo on Facebook, see https://www.facebook.com/david.sobredo

David's based in Tarifa, not sure what he's doing at the moment, but he knows Morocco well. If he's not free he might know someone.

But it's going to be an expensive business, what with ferry costs, plus about 1200km to Safi and back. Then there will be customs duties on the new engine. I've had a look at the Moroccan customs site, but can't immediately find the rates on import duties.

thanks tim...we are making progress with some shippers and can hopefully get it to Casa or possibly Safi - cost from malaga around 350 euro - but still trying to find out about customs. was told that as its a complete engine it should be classed as a vehicle and can be stamped in my passport to be checked out on departure with the truck. info stopped from the shippers re this because of weekend. we moved to a friends at marakech while sorting it...see what happens next week!

350€ is a great price including the ferry, normally you'd be looking at 600€ just for the 1200km in Morocco.

how it ended up...

it cost 150 euro to have the 300kg+ complete engine transported from the czech republic to spain - then 250 euro from spain to casablanca. we posted a request on an online shipping forum and these were the best prices from several quotes. we went to casa as i had to have the engine number inspected by customs and it was written by hand in the exit paper - on leaving at tangier med they never bothered to read that or check that the replacement engine was fitted in the truck and departing. we had a contact for a breakdown service and they had a truck leaving casa south so took our engine to safi - where our truck was - for around 35 euro. after her indoors did some serious negotiations the mechanic in safi agreed on 1000 dh - around 100 euro for taking out the old and fitting the replacement engine and this included him previously removing the head to check what was the problem. truck ran well and is now parked up in spain waiting for our next trip out this winter.

Great that you got the situation sorted in a seemingly satisfactory way.

Tim Cullis 4 Jun 2014 17:32

Wow, great solution. Didn't know that you could get the new engine included on the import forms, so that saved a load of money.
