First Bike trip to Morocco - any Bikershome experiences
 

Myself and a couple of mates are considering our first off road biking trip to Morocco (we off road a fair bit, and I've been to Morocco 3 times, but have never combined the 2!)

Have looked into taking our own bikes, renting etc etc, but we only have a week between us so are looking very closely at a guided tour (either the Bivouac or Atlas Tour) with the boys from Bikershome. We'll be going mid-September.

I'm looking for people's experiences of Bikershome - links to blogs/photos/maps or general feedback much appreciated.

We're all a bit nervous about the "organised trip" thing - generally preferring to do our own exploring - but given the time constraints this does seem like a great option.

I was there in November and just hired Peters 625 for two days. He gave me a gps with a couple of day routes on it and I just followed them so you don't have to take a guided tour as such. I didn't fancy being guided anyway so suited me well.

The accommodation is nice and the food excellent though remember you are paying European prices rather than Moroccan prices. The daily hire for the bike was 160Euro but this was cheaper than some other places I looked at who insisted I did their guided tours.

i visited his place on may 2009 and I was quite happy. he and his family are quite nice people with nice food and decent accommodation. i think i've paid 30 euros for a night including breakfast and dinner. he also changed my bike tyres for 20 or 30 euros. i did nor rent a bike, however, his service and friendship was excellent.

have fun in morocco!!

Peter and his wife are great people. Highly recommended.

Never taken a tour with Peter, but stayed at Bikershome on two occasions and had my landcruiser serviced by him, and also used his expertise in planning an off-tarmac trip around the Atlas. Peter radiates confidence and a sense of security - whether it is the knowledge of the region and the pistes or the mechanics of the vehicle. He's got a fully equipped garage, and there's great accommodation and food too.

I'm reading great infos.

Next August it'll be my and my girl's first time to Morocco (no off-roading, I ride a big H-D Electra Glide) and for sure we'll pay a visit to Bikers Home, given all the good experiences I'm reading.

Arriving in the bikershome is like coming home.
Highly recommended.

Peter's (lovely) wife Zineb is a great cook! She spent 2 hours prepararing this delicious meal for us.

Myself and 2 friends are heading to Morocco for the first time, this Mar/Apr. We will be staying at Bikershome for a couple of days hopefully - it certainly seems like the place to go!

If you are in the area of ouarzazate, you have to stay there.
They're very friendly and the food is great!
I stayed a few nights last year in April when there was no fuel left in the whole country.
Can't wait to go back on a bike trip to Morocco!

Great place, people and food, Peter was very flexible helping with bike rentals from Marrakech. Peter also recommends places to stop, food and accommodation. These are recommended after years of experience, they really are the gems of Morocco... (compared to the Lonely Planet !!).

Only negative point, European prices.

Why do people want to make a trip through the Moroccan mountains and desert...? For the same reason as why we do it: To ride free with the wind in your face... absorb breathtaking landscapes... easy follow the track on the GPS screen with time to explore left or right... camp in nature where it suits us... or spend the night in a luxurious hotel relaxing with a cool drink beside the swimming pool. Whatever you like most...
