Current Morocco trip

A few notes on my current trip in case anyone else is planning anything similar:
- I crossed from Algeciras to Tanger Med, I stayed at the Rio Grande Hotel in San Roque the last night in Spain, ten minutes from the port, cost €24 a night, parking next to room and was being used by other bikers doing the same crossing.
I didn't pre book. Rode to port, parked in the big multi storey car park in the centre (free for bikes) and bought ticket in building next door. Sailings every hour (possibly every 2 hours off season). Ferry company printed out my police form for me, obviously you need your bike's details for this.
You get to complete police formalities on board, I handed over the form the ferry company printed, the policeman wanted to know the name of my hotel in Tanger where I was staying. Be warned, don't say you don't know or that you are actually going somewhere else, just give him a Tanger hotel name, that is all he wants. In the end he made one up for me! Passport gets two stamps; a police number and the entry stamp.
Once in Tanger Med it was a quick passport check then up to customs. They complete more forms, sent me back to a police booth to have the stamped number the ferry policeman put in my passport changed (no idea why) then back to customs where they presented me with two copies of my temporary import forms and sent me on my way.
A couple of hundred yards further on are a series of low rise kiosks selling local currency, the last kiosk sells insurance. I bought one month for about €90.
That's it and on my way.

My first night was in Chefchouen. As Chris notes in his book this area has a bit of a Wild West feel to it. Certainly heading on East and up through the Cif area it is all cannabis fields, local youths every mile or two trying to flag you down and cars chasing you to try the hard sell. Shame as the roads and scenery are nice but the hassle is a bit much (unless that's what you're after, I suppose),

Now down at Midelt on the Northern edge of the Atlas and hope to be finding trails tomorrow. Updates to follow.

Ask for directions to the silver mines near Midelt.
