Cirque de Jaafar : are there two trajectories ???
 

Hi,
about ten days ago we did the Cirque de Jaafar with our motorbikes. We started in Midelt, followed the piste (slightly uphill) for about 30 km and descended (quite steep) o some kind of empty river bed with millions of rocks in it. We crossed this river bed and immediately went up the hill and followed this very easy piste untill we reached the asphalt again.
At the "finish" we were very surprised how easy the Cirque had been. I mean, youtube is full of movies showing 4x4's struggling with really big rocks and you can see those same cars driving through a quite small canyon.
But we didn't see any of that.:blink:
How is this possible? Did we miss some turn somewhere????

Yes, there's a side canyon which I refer to as the Jaws of Jaffar. When you reach the bottom of the cirque instead of heading slightly to the left you go to the right.

How hard the cirque is depends very much on how badly it's been chewed up by the rains and how hard locals and travellers have worked to repair the piste.

Hm, you don't happen to have a track of these Jaws? I feel I missed out on this one, alas. Which simply means I've got to go back :mchappy:

You may download the track from wikiloc , I did it this March with water on the Jaws and snow on the remaining track. The result was 25km in 6 hours, but it was one of the best days of my life
