All booked up

Well, I've made use of the 10% discount from the bike show and booked my ferry to Santander on 19th April 2015 with a return on 18th May (same year).

I am hoping to cross to Tangier Med early on 21st and spend my first night at Chefchaouen. Then through the Rif and an eastern route down to Erg Chebbi, along the southern border and through the Anti Atlas for a day by the sea at Sidi Ifni. Back then along the spine of the Atlases touching all the favourites and a few ideas of my own. Certainly looking forward to it!

Althoguh I want to do it mainly by myself, if there is anyone out there who may be around and might be on a similar itenary? It would be great to spend a day or two with a fellow overlander(s). Let me know if you are in the area!

Also, I have booked a double cabin for the sea crossing. If any of your dates coincide with a trip you want to do, let me know, the top bunk is free for a reasonable fee!

cheers Dave

Sounds like you'll have a blast! I'll be in Morocco slightly earlier then you, leaving for Santander on the 3rd of April and returning from Bilbao on the 23rd of April, so I guess I'll be heading home just as your journey begins unfortunately.......I'll probably pass you on the Strait of Gibraltar or somewhere on a Spanish motorway :scooter:

Hi there, looks like we will be doing a trip similar to your self. There will be 4 of us in 2 LR's and trailer. Sail on the 18th and planning to get the ferry on 21st over the straights. Still to plan the finer details. Plan is to head south through Azrou overnight camp south of there. Continue down to Erg Chebbi and head west, taking in some of the routes from Chris Scotts book. Just generally wandering to the coast then heading up to Marrakesh.

Does anyone have any advise what to include in the plan. We have around 2 weeks actually in Morocco dont want to spend too long driving but similarly want to get as much in without cramming too much (did a Outer Hebrides trip last ear which involved too much in the car driving between places, have learned lesson) Any way let me know if you want to meet up along the route I am sure we can have a beer or 2 talking :censored: over a fire!

That 10% discount sounds good is it something that can be applied retrospectively :thumbup1:

I'm afraid the discount expired at the start of the year. Sorry!

keep in touch, if it's liable that our paths cross then we will have to catch up!

cheers

Morocco is enormous compared with the Outer Hebrides. Try some via Michelin route plans.

Well, bleeding 'eck, I've got a week and a half to go and I'm not even too sure if I have 3 pairs of undies to string together.

Best get work finished, and some packing done.

On a truely altrusitic note. If anything needs transporting to Marocco from the UK or Spain (totally legit of course), now is the time to say. I have a little space to take anything for anyone who can make tracks to meet me from Birmingham to Plymouth and I need to be totaly convinced of the reason as well as a search of the item(s). I would also like to be rid of the items by Fez latitudes, so if I can help, then I am willing.

I know Steve will be on the ferry from Plymouth on the 19th, anyone else for a pint and a chat?

Also I will be doing a blog. As a lone traveller it tends to be a useful discipline which I try to keep updated regularly and as most people realise, things just seem to happen to me, mainly due to my own stupididty. It will be tagged onto my last blog, www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/bailey/

Hi Dave looks like I made a foopar we will both be leaving on the 19 th you from Plymouth and us from Portsmouth I will pm you my mobile number so we can hook up in Spain or morocco if you want

davebetty 12 Apr 2015 15:41

As long as we are on the right ferry, that is the first hurdle.

depending on how easily I get off the ferry I will camp either at Salamanca, Bejar or Plasencia, all depending on what I am feeling like.

Second night I will be camping at Tarifa so I can get the ferry nice and early the next day. From there it will be Chefchaouen, Taza, Beni Tajjite, Efroud and then across the Ziz and Draa valleys to the Anti Atlas and the sea

PM me your details and we'll see where our paths cross!

cheers

Dave
