Qatar to Oman

Hi all

I'm in the process of planning a trip from Qatar around Oman and back. I'll probably do the trip in the fall or possibly winter. Has anyone here done such a trip or have any good route recommendations?

Or actually, any other good rides around the region?

HI Gasper

i wish you a nice trip
you can enter Oman Either from Dubai or Alain, you will enjoy Oman very much.
am not sure if KSA will allow you to cross the border on Bike, if not you can put it in a trailer till you enter UAE and ride from there.
if you need any advice, i can help you, just send me PM

Regards

Thanks Saleh! I'll be in touch once I get back and get things set up. I'll check on crossing KSA. I'm a GCC resident so that might help, but I'm not sure.

Hi,

Have you had any success with further information on a crossing to UAE and Oman?

Thanks,

I'm actually still in South Africa right now but I'll be back in Qatar in a few weeks. Once I'm back, I'll do some checking and post an update.

You'll need a transit visa for Saudi and you can't ride your bike. Probably best to hire a pickup and driver, put the bike in the back and sit in the cab. It's not a long journey. If you want to avoid the visa, send the bike ahead and fly to Abu Dhabi and pick it up there.

You can ride your bike from Qatar to Oman. Get your Saudi transit visa ( normally valid for 4 days) before hand. You might be asked about your mode of transport while applying for the transit visa, just don't say motorcycle.

Once rode to Dubai with a guy (Iranian) working in Doha. We met up at the Ghweifat / Rafha border post. I rode from Al-Khobar, Saudi and he from Doha, Qatar. He had got his Saudi transit visa before hand. Thats it. No other hassles.
