MX bike in UAE?

Living in Sharjah & was wondering which was the best type of bike for getting the most out of the dessert?
Would it be better to get a 640 adventure & drive there or get a trailer & a MX off-road bike? I have an old BMW but it lacks off road ability.
For a MX bike is a largeish 4 stroke what most people use?
Guess it depends on what type of riding I want to do, so was hopeing for some local input on what others use & recomend & where they go?

Hey, Bradd, I’m in Sharjah too and guess what? I have a 3-bike trailer but no bike at the moment because mine was stolen.

To ‘get the most out of the desert’ you don’t necessarily need an MX bike (2-stroke, no headlamp etc.) You certainly don’t need to be good at cornering to enjoy the dunes (talking about myself)!

After the summer I’m planning to get a CRF450X. I think that’ll be a pretty good replacement for the 20th century XR. I know someone who thinks even a CRF250 is big enough. It might depend on your size.

I can also put you in touch with people who’ve sold big KTMs because they’re just too much weight for the dunes unless you’re a very strong and skilful rider. You should be able to get a number plate on the Honda too so they can be ridden to the desert (but you’ll get tired of that.)

Go down to Honda in Dubai and speak to Rob. He’s very helpful and offers the best rider support in the UAE. Have a look at the KTMs too but, personally speaking, I ride red.

Stephan
