motorcycle insurance for Iran

Hello

The Iran Embassy in Portugal told me that to enter the country (in a motorcycle) I need an insurance that is valid there.
I’m planning to enter Iran coming from Turkey. Where can I do the insurance? At the border or I must do it previously? (where?)

Thks

Hey hey,

It's part of the hole process to get your insurance at he border. It's the last step to proceed and there are always guys around to help you. I paid $53 for a three months insurance.

Cheers, Richard

Hi, when I entered Iran, nobody at the border mentioned the insurance. When I asked for it, the insurance counter was already closed!
So I got my insurance in Urmia and had to pay 80 Euros for one year. I was told the insurance would always be for one year!

Bad to hear now that there is a much cheaper way!

So better ask at the boarder if the officials forget it...

cheers,
Ralf

Green card.

Check the back of your Green Card for the states covered: Iran should there, no kidding, it's part of it. In two occassions I entered Iran with green cards and no issues at all. Same for Turkey: green card. Cheapest way being from Portugal (neighbours!bier).

(all of this unless it's changed after sept. 2010)

Happy travels,

Esteban

Hello

Thanks for your answers.

I checked if our green card was valid in Iran and Turkey. Only in one of the bikes the green card is valid, for the other two it’s not.

So if we have and can do the insurance in the border of Iran it will be ok for us. The only remaining question is if between Chipre and Turkey it’s possible to do that.

Does anyone was experience in that border?

thsk

Is it because IR and TR are listed on the back but are crossed?

I would double check with the insurance company of the other bikes anyway (I assume they all are Portuguese bikes, not from outside Europe!) just in case it could save you the cash and hassle.

Otherwise, you may contact Istanbul Bisiklet Motosiklet Club. Never met them, but they are here in HUBB and are very friendly and helpful. Maybe they could recommend you something (cheap).

In bold I was addressing that question with a possible source of information about insurance and anything related with Turkey (and beyond). Sorry, not the answer expected (I hope at least green card coverage for 1 bike was good).

GOOD LUCK, Bernardo!

insurance in Iran

Hi folks

every vehicle must have insurance in Iran, when police officer is stopping a vehicle in first step asking for insurance, vehicle card, driving license if you dont have insurance you will stop and got ticket or going to parking, this is the rules for insurance in Iran
The best insurance company is the Iran insurance company which is main company.you can find insurance offices in cities
and its just available only for 1 year not less
but the travelers by car can get it for 1 month its not working for motorbikers they should buy for 1 year not less

any question is welcome

Hossein
