lebanon

hello everybody,
anyone know how to get in and out Lebanon ? as i know there is no ferry work at the moment
thanks

There is a ferry, from Tasucu in Turkey to Tripoli in Lebanon. It is very expensive - EUR 1350 return for my Hilux (January 2022). You have to buy the ticket at Med Star, near Tasucu town centre (on the reoad from Silifke).

You can also transit through Syria (with a pre-arranged visa and tour guide) from Jordan.

So no problem getting there.

Can we ride a motorcycle from Turkey to Lebanon by the Syrian seaside road? It is a 180km stretch.
Or is the border closed?

mickey76 21 Jan 2023 16:14

as far as i know Turkey/Syria borders are closed

Border is closed to civilian traffic. Hence the outrageous ferry price from Turkey to Lebanon, as it is the only way for trucks to reach Lebanon and Syria from Europe/Turkey in a continuous journey.

Is your Hilux a Diesel or Benzin / Fuel? I have only heard of Diesel cars allowed into Lebanon if they are able to take ad blu, meaning they can't be older than around 2015. Thanks!

It is a petrol/benzin/essence (not diesel). In the end I did not make the journey (and got the ticket refunded).

3 month Lebanese visa from a Canadian passeport is easy. One photo and 150$ CASH - Valid for 3 months

Jordanian visa - Easy - Just show up at the border - Pay in Jordanian dollars only.

Syrian consulate in Montreal is closed. Moved to Vancouver. Can't reach them.

Paying outrageous prices for a ferry pass is not how I travel.

So far, it is the Syrian visa that holds the trip.

You need to engage a travel agent to get a Syrian visa and be booked on an organised tour. In early 2022 it was about USD400 for visa and a two day escorted trip from Lebanese to Jordanian borders.

Lebanese visas - for Europeans at least - are available at the border.

Even with a Syrian visa, the Turkey-Syria border is not open, so not clear how you exoect to avoid the ferry unless you are flying in.

It looks like Med Star is the only ferry company that does Tasucu / Tripoli. But I don't even know if they are still offering that line, and I can't find a way to check their price for a bike. Anyone has any idea?

MarcoInnocenti 28 Jun 2023 21:40

I read that it is forbidden to enter Lebanon with diesel cars, can you confirm?
do you know the departure days from tasucu? I understand that the ticket must be purchased on the spot
Thanks

eurasiaoverland 29 Jun 2023 01:04

Yes diesel cars cannot be imported into Lebanon (even temporarily) - I think this applies up to about 2006 models. Recent models with a DPF (diesel particulate fitler) are apparently allowed.

The ferry leaves approximately every 3 days, but there is no advanced schedule.

You could do an internet search for 'Med Star Tasucu', get their phone number, and make a telephone call to ask them.
