Getting Iran and Pakistan visa in Oman
Possible? If yes how long to wait?
Also interested in doing it in Yemen if possible... Thanks! |
I asked the Pak embassy in Sana'a for a visa and was told that "we don't give visas to non-residents". I didn't bother in Oman.
In Dubai it was the same story, but when I explained that I was travelling overland long-term they sent me to the embassy in Abu Dhabi where I got a 10-day "visit" visa which I was then able to extend with some arguing in Quetta. However, you do need the dreaded letter of non-objection from your embassy/consulate. This was refused in Ankara, but I got it in Dubai from the German consulate in 1 day, 20 Euro. The Iranian visa in Dubai was a breeze, but I had already a used one in my passport. I don't know whether this made any difference or not. :offtopic: I don't know whether going to Yemen at this time is a good idea... |
Thanks for the info! How long did you have to wait for the Pakistan and Iran visa?

Iranian visa
Time depends on where your from, Where your applied for, Time when applied ! I don't suggest for American citizens to go in right now :nono:.
Let me know if I can be more of help :smartass:. |
The Iranians were very efficient, took only a few days, or I could have had it express in 1 or 2 days for double the price.
I can't remember about the Pakistanis, I think they did it on the spot or the next day. |
Unfortunately, now in Oman, and they don't give Pakistan visa anymore. Seems to be the case in Tehran also. They will not deliver the visa to you outside of your country of origin. Any recent case of people getting it in the region?

That's what they said to me in Dubai, but when I explained that that wasn't possible, as I was travelling overland, they phoned the embassy in Abu Dhabi, then sent me there.
Things may have changed, though. |
As far as I am aware, there is a difference with Iranian visa. If you already had a visa in the past, getting a new one is very easy. This can be done on the authority of the embassy/consulate alone. If you have never had an Iranian visa, it takes significantly longer, as they need to get authorization from the ministry for interior affairs (or something like that). You can speed up that process, by paying for an Iranian travel agency to do this for you. Then you get a reference number (provided the ministry gave its ok), with which you can proceed to apply for the visa at the embassy.
