An Idea for MC Rental in Tehran?
Hello All,
I am in the beginning stages of planning a motorcycle trip in Iran. Due to some time constraints and a need for a huge deposit for a Carnet if I took my own, I am trying to see if I can fly into Tehran and rent a bike. Does anyone know how I could rent a bike there? I keep seeing that there are no official places to rent but maybe someone knows someone who rents bikes? I appreciate any info or guidance. Thanks BL |
Update on Iran Moto Rental
I thought I would just post something here to say that I did find someone in Iran that says he has 5 enduro bikes (250cc) that he rents out for moto trips. I obviously do not have any useful info yet on easy of the process, reliability, trustworthiness, etc. but if someone wants his contact info, let me know.
Unfortunately, he requires a International Driving Permit. So, I am starting the weeks long process of obtaining one from Italy. Italian bureaucracy:frown: |
Damn. In Australia you just pay your $50 and they send it.

Hello Bandit L,
in Germany only EUR 16,30 and you will get the int. licence just in time and it's valid 3 years (so, this is the E.U. ;-) Greetings Ferdi P.S.: Maybe in 3 years the war in Iran is over:( |

Next time, maybe you try to go as an E.U. citizen with the (valid) E.U. driver licence (and your I.D. card and one passport-photo) to any other E.U. country (Germany e.g.).

With the UK, US, Aus. passports, travelers to Iran need to be with a tour from an official tour company from Iran. Did they ditch the tour? I read that she was conducting interviews with people about what constitutes a good life, was that too much like information gathering/spying? She posted regularly on social media, was she violating the VPN restrictions? What was the ACTUAL reason for their arrest? Clearly, not all visitors, even if from restricted countries as the aforementioned, are not all facing prison time during their visits. |

Were they 'agents' working for the British government? Probably not. Were they engaged in gathering intelligence? It seems so, even if that was for personal reasons or some unknown study. They were very naive to do that in such a country. As long as there is no way for authorities to make similar claims against you, I doubt there is a major risk of being implicated and prosecuted, but there are no guarantees. As a dual British national, from the point of security (and obviously convenience) I would be very reluctant to visit Iran with my British passport. But I would be happy to visit with my other passport. I would not be poking around border regions and not go off the main highways anywhere around the major nuclear installations. |
