More than one charities?

Hi all,

I'm finding it difficult to find the 'right' charity to support. I mean, there's lots of them - just way too much choice.

I had a very good browse through justgiving and found several charities that I am considering now. My trip will go through Europe/the Stans (Central Asia)/China/Pakistan/India... final destination Australia.

Two questions:
1) What's 'wrong' with supporting 2 instead of only 1 charity? I mean: Most people concentrate on one, which is fair enough. But then again, there's not that much more work involved in trying to raise money for 2 charities instead of only one. (I am thinking of one charity for handicapped people, and one for immediate crisis/medical relief).

2) Do you know of other websites other than Justgiving, which have more diverse charities on their list? What I am looking for is an internationally active(!) charity that deals with handicapped children, i.e. Down-Syndrome. I did find a Down-Syndrome charity on justgiving, but it's concentrating on the UK only. (I don't want to support a 'Europe-only' charity because I believe handicapped people in Africa/Asia/Americas are less fortunate)

In case you are wondering: My favourites at the moment are "Handicap International" (because of their involvement in some countries I've been to in the past, i.e. UXO Laos) and "Medecins du Monde".

Cheers
Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,
When were you thinking of leaving on this trip?

Have you looked at Oz Rally 2009 | Charity Rallies ?

This is not for profit charity event. It offers no support out on the road but there is the advantage of other people wanting to end up at the same destination for the same causes.

Just a thought.
