Racor Filter (Drop in Filter) - Link?

Hi,

Does anybody know where I can buy the following?

I have a Racor Filter 500gf.

It came with a 30 micron filter that you drop in to the top by taking the lid off.

But earlier models came with a metalic guaze filter that you drop in, not paper micron.....these last forever, and only need taking out to clean any large debris off. No need to replace them anywhere near as often as a paper micron filter.

Does anybody know where I might be able to buy one?

Many thanks.

Are you sure you want to drop filtering efficiency from 30 to 149 microns? And lose water rejection capability? Might as well not have a Racor at all!
What is your application?

Possibly looking at having 2 racors. One with this guaze filter in to trap any large bits of shit, then a paper micron in the next one. Excessive perhaps, but had some incredibly shitty diesel in Africa before. Plays havoc with the injecters as you know. Then with 2 fuel filters before the injecter pump, should help the engine considerabely. In theory anyway!

That's the idea!
What kind of vehicle?
What kind of primary filter does it have?
Maybe a 2nd Racor with a 30 or even 10 micron element.

It's an Om366 in a Mercedes 1617. Came with a single fuel filter fitted, I swapped it for a double filter housing. Currently have one racor fitted, looking at getting a second one also as described. They really are effective, i remember being in Nigeria before and the amount of shit it would trap was incredible. I was cleaning it out as much as three times a week. And thats with buying diesel from so called reputable stations like Total!
