Siracs or W301 on LC4? (Lot's of highway!)

Hi,

for my LC 4 400 millitary, I'm looking for long mileage tyre that gives decent grip on wet roads as well. I have a loooot of highway miles coming up, (like 8-9kkm the next 2 months), and I don't feel like completely wearing out a TKC on the motorway (and I don't like the front in the wet).

The obvious choice is the pirelli MT90 A/T's ... but that doesn't seem to be availble at the time.

The Tyre man recommended Bridgestone TW302 and TW 301. What are the experiences with this tyre for on road riding (I read they aren't worth much off road)?

Anyone tried the Michelin Siracs 120/80 18. They're quite a bit narrower than the standard 140's.

Thanks for the input!

Rob

I ran a set, they were slippery especially in the wet, can you get Kenda 270's. Much better.

If you can get them the MEFO Superexplorers are supposed to last forever.

I picked up a Sirac rear tyre in Kenya (the only tyre in the country that would fit my bike). It was fine all the way home to the UK including Northern Ethiopia and Sudan in some fairly bad conditions - and that was two up on a BMW R80GS.
So it lasted fairly well, and I thought the handling was fine, but I know others disagree.

The TW301/302 combo was stock on my 640 E, the rear only lasted about 4000km, so no, not a good tyre for road mileage. My girlfriend has used them on her Sherpa too, & even on the smaller bike the mileage wasn't great on the rear.

Cheers

You get very good mileage out of a 130 rear. Not sure about feel though and grip was nothing special. Fine for my commuter bike.
