LC8 Recall

Hi all
Went to my dealer and asked when my 950
would be delivered. He said that they hadnt left Austria due to a recall on the clutch.

Can anyone confirm this or is it dealer bull

Thanks

Ian

The clutch recall seems to be genuine. See the Adventure 950 thread below:

One of the more recent posts talks about it. Hope this helps.

Iain

Extract:-
The gearbox is really slick although the clutch feels a bit spongy - may need bleeding, but there was a clutch recall before I even got my hands on the bike. Apparently the clutch basket has a reinforcing band around it, which the factory advised to be checked, on checking at PDI it was found to be loose, the replacement isn't due for 6-8 weeks so they have removed the band for the time being (as recommended) with instructions not to abuse the clutch i.e. no wheelies or do-nuts etc

Yes, it's true, that was my post regarding the clutch problem. Having delivered some of the bikes and then found that the clutches are faulty I guess the factory would see no point in making further deliveries until they have sorted the problem. A whole bunch of bikes with recalls is not good for their reputation, better to delay delivery espec as it is a new, long waited for model.

It seems that the problem component is bought in from a sub contractor and is not actually of KTM manufacture, I guess they and we have just been unlucky on this occasion. My bike has been fine since delivery following removal of the offending steel band.
