KTM Seat (Ouch! How could they?)
 

It's a killer lets face it.

My reccomondations, aside from the the usual 'Sheepskin' throwover...

I purchased a horse 'Equigel' - a gel pad for horse saddles, approx 30cm * 45cm * 1cm thick for £35 ($55) from a Tack shop (Horse supplies). I called a mobile motorcycle seat upholsterer (Lee in London on 07977 874075)who charges £45 to rebuild, insert the gel pad and re-upholster and Bingo! Oh what joy.

The only issue is it adds another 2-4cm to the bike already high ride height, but hey - as I'm driving to India from the UK - it's comfort that counts. And should I need to I can always throwover a sheep as well!

Better than £300 for a Corbis!

I dont recomend the getting Lee to repad the seat. We had it done, found it made little difference raised the level of the seat to a uncomfortable height. We had Lee come back and put the original foam and cover back on the seat the next day. It took us 10,000 kms to come up with a solution, a lambs wool dog cover and a peice of form bought in Cancun.

All I can say is that he has done a fantastic job for me and the seat after 16,000 kms is still ace. I'm really happy with the work, even though - yes it is high - but I like the extra height.

I would say that its best to make sure that any work required is clearly specified and and also to remember that any new seat or padding needs time to bed in. Lee came highly reccommended to me from a well known overlanding London garage.
