Simon,

3 Months in NKT is definately one record I dont want to beat!

The only compensating factor is that I have found a bar here where they sell real beer (that is if you assume Stella or Heinekin count) for only 1000 ougiya. So no more crap Chinese lager for me!

On a serious note for knowlegable KTM types - when rebuilding the engine, I didnt touch the flywheel side of the crankshaft at all, but I did tighten the crank nut on the clutch side. Although I think it was torqued to the right setting, could this be a cause of the flywheel cracking?

cheers

Hi Matt, Sorry to hear your problems continue....Is the noise your hearing from the right side for sure caused by the cracked flywheel? If you have a shot crank end bearing behind the flywheel it can be pretty noisy.... You could put a dial indicator on the end of the flywheel shaft spin the motor and see what the runout is...The book says less than 0.04 MM, if yours has more wobble than that it could indicate a scored bearing race or bent conrod....

I don't think tightening the bolt on the clutch side would have cracked the flywheel. You said you removed and replaced the flywheel several times in the past so it is possible that after the last install the crack developed and then expanded with use and vibration....

Good luck...
David...

Have you posted on KTMtalk or advrider - both are useful . Good luck

Thanks Overlander

I have also posted on Adv Rider and they had some useful comments.

Having tested virtually everything else and found nothing wrong, I am starting to form the view the flywheel cracked due to previous over-torqueing.

cheers
