2014 690Enduro R bent frame maybe
With only 768 miles on the 690 and light to moderate dirt riding, somehow the freaking frame is bent. That or the tank tweaked somehow. The bike has never been in a wreck or taken an off. I just replaced the tank bolts with the perrun bolt kit, but that didn't fix the problem. It has taken a few hits to the rear end by hidden rocks/tree roots and such but nothing that would bend the frame.
Have any of you experienced this? |
On such a new bike, this is clearly a dealer issue. Was it like this from new .... or did you not notice? In your other post you mention the plate being crooked.
Could it simply be just the rear sub frame that is bent .... or maybe something is simply "tweaked" and can easily be pushed back straight? This is dealer stuff. To bend the frame or sub frame you'd have to FLIP the bike and have it land HARD upside down. If it IS bent (and I doubt it) it probably happened in transit somehow ... and KTM should give you ALL NEW everything to make it right. Don't Screw around with the bike, don't take anything off , DON'T touch it as this could invalidate your warranty. Just take it in ... and be prepared to wait until the regional KTM rep shows up to make the decision. :mchappy: |
No, and my off-tarmac riding has been thousands of miles with heavy luggage.
What are the symptoms of the problem? Suggest you have the dealer look at it. |
This problem happened in the past 161 miles. Before that it was straight on. Because the tank is the sub-frame and plastic, it may have bowed out a tad on the left side thus lowering that side by 1/32".
According to my dealer the bike only has a one year warranty which expired and that a tweaked frame would not be covered because it's not the fault of a defective part, but rather rider abuse. |

If you can convince your dealer ... and the regional KTM rep, then KTM may chose to cover your bike (out of warranty) and make repairs as a "good will" gesture.
If the bike shows clear signs of hard off road use, you may be out of luck. But with under 1000 miles ... I'm thinking KTM will step up .... IF ... it's something that turns out to be their fault. Usually things don't bend on their own ... bit of a mystery here. Good luck! bier |
