2003 Aventure 640 Main Gearbox Bearings

I have just had mine replaced after 1,500 miles from new.

It seems the bearings are marked with only the KTM part number rather than the manufacturers name as is normally the case.

Any one else had any problems?

I have had some 50,000miles on my OE bearings on my 98 adventure, but now they had gone so changed them with new KTM parts. I could not belive that they only lasted some 6,000 miles, before being worn out.
Iam told that KTM had some bearings made in Slovakia cheaply between 2002-2003 and as a result so are still on the shelf! or in bikes ! even worse .I have replaced them again with branded ones from a bearing suppier and am confident this will be the last time for a while !Cheers Andy

Yupp, sounds familiar.

The steering head bearings in went after 20,000km (probably way before that - i just didnt notice until then, oops)

- they were marked 'made in poland'

I am new to motorcycles, so some might laugh at my question. But since I am leaving in a couple of months on a 8,000 mile trip, I better ask. How can you tell that the bearings in the gearbox ore bad?

Oooops, I need to watch my spelling!!

...are bad?
