Anybody used Continental TKC80s on a KLR? I used them alot on my BMW F650. Excellent in the dirt, and I could get 10,000 km out of them at times (front tire even more).
Now that I am a KLR guy (or will be in three weeks), I have to learn which replacements to use all over again...

Much better than Kendas (which I used these days) and which by the way is also very cheap (model 270 or 760).

if you realy want tyre able to do almost everything in every condition, use Conti TKC 80 or Michelin T63. Both tyres are fantastic on road ( T63 is noisy ) and also provide excellent grip offroad, no matter if riding throuhg gravel, over stones or in the mud. T63 are also very good on wet asphalt surface, especialy T63. According my expirience, T63 are the most versatily tyre for real dual-purpose riding, while most of tyres named "dual-purpose" as for example, Enduro 3, Dunlop Trailmax, Siracs, Gripster or so are infact street tyres and provide no enough grip in different offroad conditions, especialy on no-hard surface. I use T63 at the moment and T63 are realy excelent tyres. Last around 10000 km, I rate that mileage fantastic for street legal enduro tyre. Conti TKC 80 are also very good in all conditions, while Pirelli MT21 is fantastic offroad, but much worse onroad than mentioned above.

Anyone I hear talkin less than 80% street, I have to at least mention the 858 Cheng Shin.
I get close to 10,000 miles out of the rears and it offers qualities some of the other 50-50s don't.

I thought about using the Cheng Shin's but the metric sizes confused me (not hard to do really!). What size did you use?

Southwest Moto Tire has some of the best photos of all the tire sites.
They also have a conversion chart for some of us metric challenged, like me.
No trouble at all runnin a 5.10 on the rear.
I relaced my front to an 18 rear and run a 4.60 on the front.

i have to put my 2 cents in here.

i was a gripster owner for 4 years. good mileage but crap on a wet road.

am now touring s. america and have used 2 continental tkc-80s. the rear gets only about 6k miles but they are the best damn tire ive had. outstanding all around in any condition.
