KLR Diesel?

I was on KLR650.com and they had a picture of a new KLR 650 diesel that was coming out but didn't go into any more detail than that. I know the military has these but is Kawasaki producing them for the public/civilian use? I've looked around and can't find anything on this, anyone else know anything?

Try DieselBike.net The Original Diesel Motorcycle website. I don't think Kawasaki have anything to do with them.

The 'DLR' (diesel KLR) is being developed by Hayes Diversified Technologies. They have made their first production run for the uS marines, and they liked them so much they ordered a load more, and HDT cannot provide the technology for civilian use until March 2008 at the very earliest.

The bikes are predictably quite underpowered compared to a 650 petrol but they are not far off for torque, and it comes in lower down -good for sand!

The bike frame, wheels etc are all KLR

their site is Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDTUSA)- Design and Manufacturer of Diesel Motorcycles and Diesel Military Motorcycles

That will be a MT350D then? :rolleyes2:

The HDT webpage shows a UK/NATO version of the KLR with excellent fuel economy and range.

nope, is a v twin, chosen because it is already very similar to a diesel enging in head shape (their words).

see here Welcome to F1 Engineering - Prototype Engine Design, Development and Manufacture

seems to be thats what they do. get funding to develop/convert petrol to diesel.

there are real diesel bikes about, the best ( and most expensive is the trak80 ) one of the overlanding options is 2 wd.

They have passed the 50 production figure and now the bikes are tuv approved. Expect real production to start next year ( 2008)
The really impressive feature is the seat height can be adjusted down to 70mm (27 1/2 inches)
