kle500 longer side stand
 

having jacked up my kle500 i find i need a longer side stand by about 2-3 inches . anybody know where i can get one or perhaps one off a different bike ?

If the stand is steel, it's reasonably straightforward to make it longer, shorter. If it's tubular, I would make it adjustable. I'm about to make one for my DRZ that adjusts from standard to a couple of inches shorter for when the bike is loaded with fuel and luggage. I'll pop a slightly bigger foot on it while I'm at it.

I'll pop a picture on here whne I'm done and if you like, I'm sure I could sort yours for you.

Just cut the original foot off and weld a 2 inch tube to it and a new foot. 30min of work if you know how to weld or someone can weld for you. I did this on my when I raised it for 5cm.

I have a KLE 500 raised by a couple inches and I found that the best solution is to replace the stand with a longer one rather than welding it, mainly because I originally welded mine with an extender and found that due to the narrow stance caused by the angle of the stand when extended it falls over pretty easily. Eventually I went down a bike breakers and experimented with a couple of side stands from various bikes and settled on this one; I don't know what bike it came off but it fits the KLE perfectly and has a curve so the stance of the bike is wider - it hasn't fallen over since, even when parked side on on an incline.

So yeah, a stand exists that fits the KLE when raised, but I have no idea what bike it's off...

If anyone could work out what model side stand that is it came from that would be gr8ful as after having my kle jacked up its leaning over way to far and already dropped it once.

Well ive shown the pic of the side stand to a m8 and he's thinking its came off a KMX. He thinks hes got one floating about so will try it out if found.Will report back if any luck.Failing that i may get a center stand but as ive jacked it up ill have to look into it and see if thats possible.

having now purchased a second hand kmx side stand i can confirm it will fit but you will have to cut it down by approx 2" and get a longer spring by about 20mm .

Hi there all,

the side stand in the photo looks like a KLX250 version. Don't know anything about a KMX. Are they similar models?

I do recall someone on either this forum or ADV rider having used the KLX250 stand with no mods except for the spring.

Any thoughts/comments?

After raising mine by 35mm on the rear and 10mm on the front, Ive just finished cutting and extending mine by 1.75inches ive also welded a fat foot to the end so it done sink in the mud

Im now working on a fork brace that will stiffen the front wheel flex and give a bracket to raise the front mudguard by an inch or so
Ill post pictures when its done the less fork flex will mean better control off road so that will be goodbier
