KLE Tyres!
 

Hi fellow KLE dudes:thumbup1:, Hows about some input regarding what tyres you use and why?:rolleyes2: I will have to change mine soon (oem trailmax-3500mles):helpsmilie:, i do more on than off road..(if you disallow my 4" graveled 100mtre drive):eek3: It seems that this subject has been touched on but not dicussed in depth, with quite a few makes and models? of tyre available for our beloved kle, it makes sense to have your thoughts:cool4: yes!

mine's done 7000miles and still going strong...tot of changing to tubeless when it's time to change tyres though...anyone have any idea whether dats possible?

Hell! there doing good?:thumbup1: Mine not so :censored:.... I don't think you can have tube less tyres on the kle unless you change the wheels to cast, but tube less tyres with a tube, different story:rolleyes2: I stand corrected if not possible:eek3:
goin to get mine serviced by a (cheaper) local mechanic next week i'll let you all know how i get on:cool4:

Hi all, I've had my KLE since last summer and have since taken it from 2000 miles all the way up to 30000 miles now.
The original dunlops were shot by 8500. replaced them with bt45's great road tyre, 7500 from rear :thumbdown: and 19300 from front :clap:.
I then put an Avon distanza on the rear and that has done 14000 miles:thumbup1:, and has been replaced with the same again.
So for my regular commute I will use bt45 front for good grip and distanza rear for good mileage. Obviously a missmatch that works well for me.
I may try a distanza front after the winter.

Im just about comming up to replace the stock rubber on my 2006kle, I think I will also go down the Avon distanza route.

I cant knock the dunlops apart from the lack of milage out of them, Im affraid that when It comes to tyres, I insist on good shlef life.

The dunlops on mine have done 4500 upto now and are starting to look worn, there is about another 1000 left in them. I will get the new set in the new year.

The distanza is a more road bias tyre then the stock dunlops.

HI All, Just had the bike serviced by my "one man band mechanic"...brill job:clap: less than a ton, inc fresh front ferodo pads ( wow it brakes now!) what i wanted to say was, he sugested avon distanzer tyres as well:thumbup1:

Are they sintered?...come to think of it, are the standards????

Hi Roy, I don't know, i'm seeing my mechanic tomorrow, i'll ask! and i don't think the standard ones are sintered.......Is that why there crap?:oops2:

The sintered pads give more bite, but could cause early brake disc wear.

But your life is more important then a brake disc and so its worth the upgrade, Stainless steel brake lines on the front should help sharpen those brakes up.

They made a big difference on previous bikes ive owned.

My wife has just ordered a set of them sw motech crash bars...hehe, cant wait til xmas.

Ive just swapped my front mudflap for a plastic one, A mate gave it to me and had no idea what bike it was ment for but with a bit of cutting and such, it worked a treat.

The engine bars were from the link on the kle accessories thread.

Just had the rear replaced just short of 5k mles.. had some left but :censored:with winter upon us thought better of it:(, as the front was good for another 4/5k i put another trailmax on the back (keep em matched) when there both shot i'll put a pair of distonas on:thumbup1:

I put Pirelli Scorpion ST MT90 on my Kle and can't fault them. HAve dome 4000Kms on them and they still look new. The rear trailmax was pretty knackered at 4500.

The pirellis stick better than the dunlops in the dry and specially in the wet.

I was actually after a set of Michelin Anakee but couldn't find them and they were also a bit more expensive than the Pirellis.

Never liked pirellis in my car but I will be buying them for my bike for sure.

I have also had Pirelli Scorpion MT90 S fitment fitted to my KLE and handling seems fine, unfortunately weather has not been good so cant push them to hard, they do seem to be a lot better for road use than the original fitment though watch out for price variations as one shop quoted me £160 :( fitted to lose wheels and I eventually got them fitted for £106 :thumbup1:,
I think the main difference was the £160 was with new tubes but as mine had only seen 4000 miles with no punctures I was happy not to part with the extra cash.

Just finished scrubbing in my new Avon Distanzas on the KLE.

I can recommend these tyres to anyone looking to change from the OEM dunlops. I found nothing wrong with the handling of the dunlops but these feel more planted to me.

Im all geared up for my week in Scotland from the 30th, but will have to keep an eye on this oil refienery strike up there to see if it effects getting petrol. (panic buyers).

I tried metzeler enduro 3 sahara as a change. It's been 11000 kms but the rear tire seems it can make it up to some 14000 km. Though pretty expensive, it is a relief for dual purpose riding. My scoring would be 8/10 for tarmac and 8/10 for dirt. Keep in mind that this is a +300 kg bike fully loaded and with the rider on. So, no tire will be perfect enough for dirt riding anyway. I think enduro3 is as good as it gets.

I've had my KLE since for just on six months and I'll be due for a new rear tyre very soon (7500k on the original Dunlops). The front looks like it will run another 5000 so this time it will be just one for the rear. I have no complaints with these so far. Most of the riding is commuting so I have the dreaded flat spot in the middle.

I am thinking of going with the Michelin Anakee when I change both as I have read excellent reports on their performance. From what I have read the added cost will be repaid by the additional wear. One thing concerning me is that I think I read that the Anakee may be a tubeless tyre. I can't see it mentioned on their website. Is this correct?

Has anyone had experience with the Anakee on a KLE, or anything other bike?

Afterthought: What would happen with an Anakee on the rear and a Trailmax on the front?

I have Anakee on my KLE for cca 4000 km, before that I had original dunlop trailmax. I`m very satisfied with anakee tires, they have very good grip and they are also very good in rain. I drive mostly on tarmac.
