Selling European Motorcycle in Iceland

Hello all,

Is it possible to legally and easily sell a bike purchased in the European Union in Iceland to a local?

Basically buying a motorcycle in say France and reselling it at the end of a trip, in Iceland, to an Icelander?

Or does it involve importing the bike, customs etc..?

Thanks!

There is no problem importing a bike from European Union to Iceland.
But the importer/Icelandic buyer must pay total 60% in taxes on the sales price.
So (bike price + transport cost) * 1,6 tax = total price

Thank you for this information!

60% Holy!

Do you happen to know if there is a time limit for a motorcycle staying in Iceland? Any Temporary permits there?

Considering that the ferry company will let motorbikes on for free with a three-day stopover on the Faroe Islands on the way back, makes a lot of sense to take it back to Denmark and sell it at home. ;)

Three days on the Islands are far more expensive than the ferry.
That 'free of charge' offer is poisoned.
