Look out for DeeGee's ride report. If the earthquakes and eruptions haven't got him!

Place grows on you. 1 week the first trip will probably lead to a couple of months the second time. Did for us.

thanks for the route.it gives me a start point to work out my week

What a place! I'm currently sat in the airport waiting for our flight. I was hoping the volcano would go off and keep us here a couple more weeks.

Thanks for the heads up Wildman. I can't think anyone would not like it up here, it has totally blown me away (sometimes quite literally!). We will Definately return and see the things we didn't get to do and see.

I'll put a link up to my ride report once I get going.

Hi mike,
Are you using the ferry to Denmark from the uk?
And what sort of time have you allowed for the entire trip?
I visited in 2008 when the ferry left from Scotland, been itching to return but the added travel time or ferry expense against time off work makes it a bit difficult.

There are no longer any passenger ferries from the UK to Scandinavia. The Newcastle-Bergen service ended in 2008 and the Harwich-Esbjerg ferry was discontinued in September 2014. There is a DFDS freight service from Immingham but as there are only 12 allocated cabins you'll be lucky to get accommodation.

The only other ferry which saves miles is the Stena Line Harwich-Hook of Holland service.

Happy trails,

Peter
