Scottish Campfire Mini Meet 2013

Hi HUBBERS!

Well... it's time for another Scottish Campfire Mini Meet!

This will be an informal meet with a few tents, a campfire (with tarp for bad weather protection!), and a ride out on the Saturday.

WHEN...

Friday 18th October - Sunday 20th October

LOCATION & COSTS...

Pillars of Hercules Camping (& Organic Farm).
Falkland, Cupar, KY15 7AD.
Website : Camping at the Pillars

£7 per person per night with a motorbike OR £8 per person per night with a car.

As per last year the campsite requires a £100 deposit for group bookings although we learned at last years Scottish Campfire Mini Meet that Pillars of Hercules was put as ease by people booking and paying ahead of the meet which resulted in us not having to put down the deposit. :thumbup1:

SO... PLEASE BOOK your camping pitch directly with the campsite by Quoting "HUBB MEET in the Bankings Field" on
01337 857 749 or by emailing bruce@pillars.co.uk. You need to state how many people are coming by bike (£7pppn) or by car (£8pppn), if your staying on Fri night only / Sat night only or BOTH nights and give a contact telephone number. Thank you!

Please also let us know that your coming along so we know who to look out for and remember that if you want to get set up in daylight then you'll want to be there by 6-6:30pm! :D

OTHER FACILITIES...

Pillars of Hercules Vegi Cafe : 10am-5pm. (They have very nice cakes!)
Dont miss out on lovely organic food from our Cafe!

Pillars of Hercules Farm shop :9-6pm Pillars of Hercules - Shop Information Page

CAMPFIRE...

If you have space then please bring a few logs for the fire or if not then a few pounds to buy some from the campsite. We will forage for wood but we will need some dry kindling & firewood to get the fire started on both nights!

Looking forward to seeing some old faces and meeting new friends,

Beej n Chris

Scottish Campfire Mini Meet 2013

greenmanalishi - Will be good to meet you as we didn't make the Cannich meet and have heard about you!?! Thanks for booking in with the campsite and sorting out payment! :thumbup1:

greenmanalishi 25 Aug 2013 11:41

Hmmm..................

Hi Beej, not sure what you have heard but the Bull Buggering incident was a simple misunderstanding between me and the farmers daughter plus it was dark, it could have happened to any one.
The clubhouse and the fire brigade happened only because Ted said we had run out of firewood and it seemed like a great idea at the time. ( I had run out of medication two days earlier)
The sheep and barbecue affair came about when some one mentioned there are no burgers left, lets spit roast a sheep. The RSPCA saw the funny side and did not press charges and the sheep seemed happy enough.

I have never been a member of the Waffen SS and my birth certificate contrary to popular belief does not have "created on the Death Star" in the place of birth section. Most, but not all of the other stuff is true:innocent:

See you on site:thumbup1:

You may find parts of Scotland are near your garage, just not this particular part :innocent:

Badrakumar 26 Aug 2013 22:36

Hi Beej
Great effort to keep your mini meet thing going every year around this time.
This year again I will be in Ethiopia around that time. Sorry I wont be able to make it.

Just returned from Norway on sunday after 2 weeks on the bike. Great experience and good miles. But very expensive though.

Best wishes.

mountaincadre 28 Aug 2013 20:10

Fee's paid and looking forward to it.:D

Milimut1 28 Aug 2013 21:41

Heading down to Pillars tomorrow night taking grandson camping and probably some geocaching, quite a few round the camp site.
Will book our pitch for the Mini Meet when we are there :D

Beej 30 Aug 2013 16:47

greenmanalishi - Sounds like we missed a good one at Cannich this year!?! doh

Badrakumar - That's a shame that you'll miss the meet again. Must try to catch up in Cannich next year! Norway sounds fun!

mountaincadre & Milimut1 - Thanks for booking in with the campsite and sorting out payment! :thumbup1:

Milimut1 30 Aug 2013 22:13

Scottish Campfire Mini Meet 18th - 20th Oct 2013

Hi Everyone,

Well... it's not long to go now... we've just been looking through the posts and so far it looks like we will be seeing the following HUBBERS on the 18th October @ Pillars of Hercules Campsite!

A big thank you to those of you who have already booked your camping pitch. We are hoping that Pillars of Hercules will be put at ease by people booking and paying ahead of the meet which will hopefully result in us not having to put down a deposit.

If you are still to book you can do this by phone (01337 857 749), or email (bruce@pillars.co.uk), and quote "HUBB MEET in the Bankings Field" so that they know you are with us! You need to state how many people are coming by bike (£7pppn) or by car (£8pppn), if your staying on Fri night only / Sat night only or BOTH nights and give a contact telephone number. Thank you!

If you know someone else who is planning on coming along then please let us know so we know who to look out for and remember that if you want to get set up in daylight then you'll want to be there by 6-6:30pm!

Looking forward to seeing some old faces and meeting new friends,

DougieB 15 Oct 2013 21:13

hey,

don't suppose anyone's packing some hairspray ? need to fit some new bar-grips to the bicycle, and hairpsray is the stuff to do it. but I only need a couple of skooshes, so a bit of a waste (for me!) to buy a whole can.

cheers

Not what you want to hear but had a right clear out a few days ago, if the bag is near the top of the wheelie bin I will bring some. Hope the stuff dosent have a sell by date cant remember when it was last used.

Milimut1 15 Oct 2013 21:54

Important stuff not to forget

kindling
tarp
burgers (will make them Thursday night)
beans (made them tonight)
marshmallows
hairspray (if I can get it out the wheelie)

See you all Friday

Liz n Mike

mountaincadre 16 Oct 2013 07:40

Prefer the lighter fluid for changing the grips.

Milimut1 16 Oct 2013 16:13

Found a wee tin of hairspray for you will put it beside all the other stuff waiting to be packed. Thankfully it was in a bag at the top of the wheelie so no embarassment rooting around in it

DougieB 16 Oct 2013 16:44

ha ha, very much appreciated thanks !

got the maps out today to plot the route up. either over Lomond Hills if I'm feeling energetic, or around the north-side via the cake shop in Milnathort :)

dave08 16 Oct 2013 17:44

Cake shop? Please tell me more

DougieB 16 Oct 2013 17:53

Heaven Scent (.co.uk) in Milnathort, centre of town opposite the Royal Hotel. Very inexpensive, usual breakfasts, rolls, lunches, etc. But also magnificent cakes; essential cycling fuel.

19 South St, Milnathort, Kinross-Shire KY13 9XA

dave08 16 Oct 2013 18:54

Many thanks, I may pay them a visit on Saturday morning

DougieB 16 Oct 2013 19:25

highly recommended. I cycled a lot between Edinburgh and Perth, and always stopped there on the way.

if you're on a motorbike you should be able to park opposite or alongside, if there's no parking space in front. a single bike shouldn't cause a problem, and Milnathort is a quite sort of place.

cheers

bordo55 16 Oct 2013 22:50

So very true! After a long soak in the bath yesterday evening and a shower this morning where I thoroughly washed my hair I couldn't believe it when getting dressed for work this morning I could still smell smoke! Beej :confused1:

Still waiting LOL

Beej, I am still waiting for the campsite to contact me about electronic payment details LOL. I didn't want to turn up and be told I could not stay cos I had not payed in advance. They did promise to contact me after a few emails about payment but zilch.:(

Hope its all sorted for 2014 :D

optimisery 17 Aug 2014 23:08

Hi all,

Is there a meet this year?

greenmanalishi 20 Aug 2014 04:07

I hope so

The only reason I have not been to the last one was a Lack of being able to pay up front. I did try but the campsite did not get back to me despite several emails and phone calls, the site may be amazing judging by the reviews but the admin and the offers to pay up front are S**te.

I will happily retract this statement and give an apology if they can produce a single email to say they have tried to contact me and solve this issue of paying upfront which they insist upon?

This begs the question of how the hell anyone gets to book or stay here as you "cannot turn up and book on arrival"

CAF confuse as F**k

Beej 31 Aug 2014 21:06

Hi optimisery...

Just seen your post as only on HUBB now!

Details of the next Scottish Campfire Mini Meet are going up soon... hopefully this evening as long as my computer keeps on working!
