Scottish Campfire Mini Meet 2013
Hi HUBBERS!
Well... it's time for another Scottish Campfire Mini Meet! This will be an informal meet with a few tents, a campfire (with tarp for bad weather protection!), and a ride out on the Saturday. WHEN... Friday 18th October - Sunday 20th October LOCATION & COSTS... Pillars of Hercules Camping (& Organic Farm). Falkland, Cupar, KY15 7AD. Website : Camping at the Pillars £7 per person per night with a motorbike OR £8 per person per night with a car. As per last year the campsite requires a £100 deposit for group bookings although we learned at last years Scottish Campfire Mini Meet that Pillars of Hercules was put as ease by people booking and paying ahead of the meet which resulted in us not having to put down the deposit. :thumbup1: SO... PLEASE BOOK your camping pitch directly with the campsite by Quoting "HUBB MEET in the Bankings Field" on 01337 857 749 or by emailing bruce@pillars.co.uk. You need to state how many people are coming by bike (£7pppn) or by car (£8pppn), if your staying on Fri night only / Sat night only or BOTH nights and give a contact telephone number. Thank you! Please also let us know that your coming along so we know who to look out for and remember that if you want to get set up in daylight then you'll want to be there by 6-6:30pm! :D OTHER FACILITIES... Pillars of Hercules Vegi Cafe : 10am-5pm. (They have very nice cakes!) Dont miss out on lovely organic food from our Cafe! Pillars of Hercules Farm shop :9-6pm Pillars of Hercules - Shop Information Page CAMPFIRE... If you have space then please bring a few logs for the fire or if not then a few pounds to buy some from the campsite. Hi Beej, not sure what you have heard but the Bull Buggering incident was a simple misunderstanding between me and the farmers daughter plus it was dark, it could have happened to any one.
The clubhouse and the fire brigade happened only because Ted said we had run out of firewood and it seemed like a great idea at the time. ( I had run out of medication two days earlier) The sheep and barbecue affair came about when some one mentioned there are no burgers left, lets spit roast a sheep. The RSPCA saw the funny side and did not press charges and the sheep seemed happy enough. I have never been a member of the Waffen SS and my birth certificate contrary to popular belief does not have "created on the Death Star" in the place of birth section. Great effort to keep your mini meet thing going every year around this time. This year again I will be in Ethiopia around that time. Sorry I wont be able to make it. Just returned from Norway on sunday after 2 weeks on the bike. Great experience and good miles. But very expensive though. Best wishes. |

Camp site update
The chocolate & orange cake is FAB Camped in the Orchard, the plums were nice & juicy but will probably be past by the time we get there. Booked site & paid for the Friday night they can wait until October for night #2 |

Thanks Beej, he was with us on the trip through Europe this year on his borrowed varedero 125, alas someone stole it not long after we got back, although we got it back it isn't back on the road yet.

Beej once again I may have have to let you down I had the wrong dates and thought it was the following weekend and I have arrangements on the 19 that i cant get out of I may be able to get up on the Friday and come back on the Saturday but can't confirm that till probably a day or so before the do due to commitments on the friday that i may or may not wiggle out of. I will try my best to get up though but that is a problem weekend for me. I was looking forward to saddling up Sabboo for his first run out. Jake.

Spoke to Dave yesterday and the good old stick has done the booking wi the Pillars. Talking of sticks I have cut and split a pile of dry hardwood.If you want it brought up let me or Dave know as he will cut cross country to pick it up in van as I hope to come up wi the bike. don't suppose anyone's packing some hairspray ? need to fit some new bar-grips to the bicycle, and hairpsray is the stuff to do it. but I only need a couple of skooshes, so a bit of a waste (for me!) to buy a whole can. cheers |

Found a wee tin of hairspray for you will put it beside all the other stuff waiting to be packed. Thankfully it was in a bag at the top of the wheelie so no embarassment rooting around in it

Heaven Scent (.co.uk) in Milnathort, centre of town opposite the Royal Hotel. Very inexpensive, usual breakfasts, rolls, lunches, etc. But also magnificent cakes; essential cycling fuel.

highly recommended. I cycled a lot between Edinburgh and Perth, and always stopped there on the way.
if you're on a motorbike you should be able to park opposite or alongside, if there's no parking space in front. a single bike shouldn't cause a problem, and Milnathort is a quite sort of place. cheers |

Cant quite get our heads round how many great friends we have made since joining the HUBB forum. Already looking forward to 2014 and our collective adventures. Beej, I am still waiting for the campsite to contact me about electronic payment details LOL. I didn't want to turn up and be told I could not stay cos I had not payed in advance. They did promise to contact me after a few emails about payment but zilch.:(

The only reason I have not been to the last one was a Lack of being able to pay up front. I did try but the campsite did not get back to me despite several emails and phone calls, the site may be amazing judging by the reviews but the admin and the offers to pay up front are S**te.
I will happily retract this statement and give an apology if they can produce a single email to say they have tried to contact me and solve this issue of paying upfront which they insist upon? This begs the question of how the hell anyone gets to book or stay here as you "cannot turn up and book on arrival" CAF confuse as F**k GM |
