Lincs/South Yorks meet.
It seems we haven't really got anything on the site that is happening in the immediate future, so how would you all feel about a meet durng the next month?
There hasn't been one in Lincolnshire during the time that I have been using the site, so maybe we could have one here? We could hold it in this North/East/South/Midland area (nobody actually admits to owning Lincs - I think it should split off as an independent republic). If nobody is up for that, another Yorkie meet is doable, or a Derbs one. There are several pubs in North Lincs that could accomodate us, and it is so mild this spring that everyone can join in, no matter how fair weather their disposition. Birdy |
Subject to dates count me in, not been to one of these before so it would be good to put some faces to names :thumbup1:

Consider yourself president-elect! I've noticed a few yellowbellies coming on here in the last couple of years. That's great for me as I intend to move back to my adopted county next year (Digby). It'd be nice to join an active scene after leaving Sharjah. If you have anything local planned for this summer (late June to mid-August) I'd love to come along. Stephan |
I'm up for it :thumbup1:
|
Birdy if I can get along I will be there set the timetable and be good to talk about your trip.
|
Add one more Yellowbelly to the list of definately maybe subject to dates
:thumbup1: |
And another....!

And me :-)
Subject to shi(f)t work |
Fantastic response, didn't know there were so many closet 'Yellerbellies' out there.
I am back on the road at the end of this month (with a new bike that I hopefully won't kill,) so was thinking of something within the next few weeks, maybe the weekend of 24/5/6? Jake, did you try to send me a PM? Would be great to see you again. Quote:
I will unfortunately be in the Middle East at the time of your return, back on my travels after the abortive Africa jaunt. To be honest, I prefer the Middle East to Africa anyway, so am heading that direction this time. Birdy |
24/5/6 this month.
I work 3 weekends out of 4, shift work and that weekend I am on the morning shift, finish at 1500hrs. Could meet at a pub for a bite to eat mid evening. As long as it's not a biker's haunt. Sick to death of hoards of one piece leather wearing, superbike riding, so far up their own arse, no respect for any other style of biker let alone for any other road user, type motorcyclist. Phew. Glad that's out. Nothing against sports bikes. Having had a Blade, R1, SP1, a couple of ZX7Rs amongst others. Just that a minority of bad riding, selfish...oops..here I go again....race rep types really piss me off. Shouldn't, I know. I am a mature adult and bigger than that but... My horizons have always been further than that. God I sound, snobbish, holier than thou, up my own arse.. Don't mean to be, motorcycling is big enough to accommodate us all but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from. Chuss |

I do speak Arabic but not so often in Digby. :) Have a good meeting, you yellowbellies! Stephan |

I'm sure the gods will arrange it for us all to come together - sooner or later. Looking forward to it. Best wishes Roxxo |
Birdy I did send you a pm some time ago just checking up on you and your well being - did you know there is a nights wild camping meet being set up in N/yorks on the 30 may might be an idea to tie the two together or possibly move your date a bit. best regards Jake.
|
Ah, thanks for the kind thoughts Jake, looking forward to getting back on a bike.
The wild camp is a bit late for us, so if we can't get anything in Lincs during the next few weeks we'll have to catch up on the road or when I get back. Quote:

It's probably easier to get a job in a private primary or secondary school out here than with a further educational establishment. Who are these Arabic speakers in Digby? As far as I know, Anwick is a popular place to live with overseas workers due to Padley's chicken factory and there are all sorts of nationalities there. I've met Egyptians, Afghans, Brazilians, Poles, Lithuanians etc. I don't know of any Arabic speakers in Digby though. :) Stephan |
Not being in the RAF I suspect that the location of RAF Digby is the reason for the number of arabic speakers?
|
So has anyone any suggestions for somewhere to meet then?
In the absence of earlier suggestions, can I propose the Coach and Horses in Hemmingby. Aside from being a great pub and one which does decent plain pub grub, it has the personal advantage that it's my closest decent pub! Over to yous........ |

Still, it's better than this one: THe Red Lion Digby :) Must be a Lincolnshire thing... Stephan |
Quote:
There must be loads of options for this proposed meet. Could I put forward The Chequers at Potterhanworth as an option? |
Quote:
I get to find out all the good pubs in Lincolnshire. :thumbup1: Coach and Horses in Hemingby The Chequers at Potterhanworth (just down the road from me) Keep it up, please. The Bustard in Rauceby used to have great live jazz and an excellent landlord but sadly he retired to Lincoln. Haven't heard such good things about it recently. By the way, Potterhanworth is a good place for sprockets etc. It's the home of B&C Express. Stephan |
Pyewipe between burton waters and Lincoln - beside the river and large carpark
Brown Cow at Nettleham |

The Pyewipe is now back in the ownership of Bob and Sarah Pickles, the same people that own The Chequers and also The Pennyfarthing at Timberland. Anyone know what the Royal Oak at Scopwick is like now? |
Please count me in if it's w/e 24th/25th April
Hey up Birdy!
Please add me to the list, should be good for 24th April etc. Might even attempt the journey on the 350 Bullet! Cheers Col |
Hey people,
Sorry I've not replied for a while, been rushing around trying to get everything sorted for my impending trip. I like the idea of the Pyewipe Inn, but I don't think they offer camping no? They do have rooms, but they are bloody expensive. The pub in Scopwick used to be good, but not been for a couple of years. The Coach and Horses could be a possibility, if there is camping? Quote:

Perhaps you should start a new rally for the most unsuitable machines possible?
On second thoughts.... the manufacturers have built so many already, practically all sports bikes and most super motos etc are nearly useless for distance and are crap for luggage!
Have ordered new clutch plates and springs for the Bullet, as the massive increase in power from the high comp piston has found the clutch wanting! te he! Just let us know the venue, camping is best! Cheers Col |
Just got back from a Lincolnshire tootle - went past Brandy Wharf Cider Centre ... looks a potential for a meet.
Camp site across the road and what looks like a decent hostelry by the riverside. I've never been before and don't like cider |
Things seem to have gone a little quiet on this thread, are there any more ideas as to where and when people would like to meet up?
A few good pubs have been suggested, including the lastest one of the Brandy Wharf. I am quite happy with any of the suggested locations. |
