We have just received an update from a few regular attendees of HU Ireland who will not be able to make it to Enniskillen this year as they will be off on their second "Road Of Bones" and Bam Road trip. Good luck to them, ride safe and looking forward to hearing the stories (oh yes there will be stories smile emoticon ) next year! Why not sign up to their fb page "Bam Riders"

"2016 schedule for the Bam Riders.

In late July we plan to leave Magadan for our second tour of the Old Summer road. This time we are aiming to take in a bit more of what our route has to offer instead of just riding the trails. We will spend a little more time at Kadychan, the deserted city, and visit Oymyakon which is the coldest inhabited town in the world.
This trip we will be accompanied by Míde Maher, who as far as we know will be the second western woman to cross the old summer road by bike and her bike of choice will be a Honda CRF 230.
Also joining us are 2 friends from Germany, Fritz and Thomas whom we met in Vladivostok in 2014 whilst they were driving around the world in a Mini and have since become good friends!
Gary O Keeffe from our 2014 trip will be travelling by jeep, after tearing his ligaments in both his legs on the last trip, riding the bike will not be possible for him this year.
Gary has an ongoing adventure which this trip will be a small part of, you can find information about this at 1eyeontheworld.com
From the old summer road we plan to head south to Yakutsk where Míde will fly back to Ireland. The rest of the group will carry on to Tynda and the start of the western Bam which we will take as far as the start of the 110 which heads south down the eastern side of lake Baikal.
The southernmost part of the 110 leads us to Ulaan Ude where we will obtain our visa’s for Mongolia. Then down to Ulaanbator where we will leave our bikes and equipment for a later trip across the Gobi desert, Pamir highway and the Stans."

Only 74 days to go

24/26 June 2016.

Have you booked yet?

Have you checked out the list of presenters and practical demos ?

The geographical areas covered in presentations include South Africa, Russia, Mongolia, Europe and South America. And more to be added. There are also be an extended range of practical workshops covering such subjects as first aid, on-the-road bike maintenance, tyre changing, bike modifications, bike ergonomics and advice on photography equipment to carry on that big trip.

All arrangements are in place for the usual great food and camping facilities and, of course, the great people in Cavanacarragh will have the bar fully stocked! And we are hoping that the Carawagon guys will be with us again this year. Don't know who/what they are? Come along and find out!

If you haven't booked yet, now could be the time to get the diary out.

To ensure that you join the merry band in Enniskillen complete and forward the following application:

We have been looking through recent event registrations (looking forward to seeing you all in Enniskillen) and noticed that there is quite a lot of interest in South America.

We have a treat for you.

MERV AND SARAH COLTON have agreed to return to HU Ireland this year and talk about their amazing 2 year trip round South America. The title of their presentation is "Heading North from Ushuaia". This is the second half of Merv and Sarah's story on their 2 1/2 year trip round South America in a Unimog. Too old to qualify as a gap year, Too young to retire, Too restless to stop, it's the tale of a dream trip come true. They told the first half at the Hubb Eniskillen when they got back from South America several years ago, and this is the second half of the tale.

This photo presentation will show what they saw along the way, as well as telling the joys of getting root canal treatment in Bolivia, shot by a blowpipe in Venezuela for uttering 3 stupid words and waking up in a hospital somewhere by the banks of the Amazon.

Not to be missed.

Only 60 days to go.

Have YOU registered yet?

Ireland calling!

Only 52 days to go bier

In addition to recent presenter registrations from the likes of Richard Le Sueur and Billy Ward (Billy's second visit so pleased that he has been tempted away again from his globetrotting adventures with Charlie Boorman and Ross Noble :mchappy: ) we now have received confirmation that Dylan Samarawickrama will be coming along to give a presentation. Who is Dylan?

Well at the recent HU meeting in Virginia he received a standing ovation after his presentation :clap:

Have a wee look at his sampler video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbpSr5wh0_Q

and I defy you to not want to hear him speak

Is it not time for you to register? :thumbup1:

Only 31 days to go

And we are still adding to the list of presenters and practical advice sessions. Check out the updated list

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/events/ireland-2016

Amongst the "exotic" presentations you will find a few familiar faces such as :

Grant and Susan Johnson the veteran motorcycle travellers whose vision it was to set up and now host the Horizons Unlimited website. You will not meet more experienced two wheel travellers (they started in 1987 and still on the road) and more willing people to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for travelling. Come along and stand on the shoulders of giants :beerjug:

Jim Kelsey (BAM road specialist)

Frank McNellis ( Frank will be exploring how to travel the Americas even when constrained by a time and money budget)

Daithi Wright (bodger par excellence and demon on the slow speed test)

Mark Warrender ( remember his demo last year on cooking with a Kelly Kettle and sleeping in a hammock?)

Stephen Clarke ( Only got two weeks? Stephen will show that attitudemore than distance and time makes for a great trip)

Alex Petrov (Alex looks at where you can get to from Ireland in a 2/3 week timeframe. Did you know that destinations in that timeframe include Barcelona, Nordkapp and Istanbul? Get the gen on how-to from Alex.)

And for those who are looking for a fantastic route in Ireland, we have teamed up with Paul French of Lemon Rock Bike Tours who will give the lowdown on the fantastic Wild Atlantic Way. In fact Paul is going one step further. He is leading a tour from Killarney to arrive in Enniskillen for the HU weekend. if you are interested in joining up with Paul on this trip check out his website https://lemonrockbiketours.com/
and give him a call.

Did I say that there are only 31 days to go? You can register for the weekend NOW
