Anything in the Northumberland area as a possible, some very interesting riding there?

Well if anyone else in the North/North West wants to set up a meeting and knows locations, I'll be willing to help out...

"Well if anyone else in the North/North West wants to set up a meeting and knows locations, I'll be willing to help out..." Me too, I have been trying for ages along with other people from my area (Wirral) to find a suitable site but the moment you mention bikes people run away!! Northumberland or Scottish borders is what I had in mind when I meant further up north. Most places south of Ripley are a long way to ride for a good many of the Scottish contingency and I can see no reason why they should not have an "official" HUBB meet. I think I mentioned this in jest a few months ago on another post? Just my thoughts anyway. GM |
Rugby clubs seem quite reasonable places to try out of the Rugby Season. A lot of the rallies I have been to over the last few years use them and my own club still runs an annual rally at one. Most of the facilities are there such as toiltes, showers, a bar, kitchen and some have a covered area other than the bar big enough for presentations. I think a typical charge is about £500 for the premises and of course they make over the bar and on food as well. We break even at around 160.

Similar thought to rugby clubs and their seasons are colleges :smartass:and their terms, some even have dorms available, student bars beer, canteens and coconut matting at the doors so that the muddy feet don't spread as far as the toilet blocks, just in case that sort of thing is important.doh

Sorry, I'm late... Just too busy in the weeks since the meeting - but here are a few of my pics now:
Riding from Oxford to the Mendips on small country roads http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...P1000217-L.jpg Winding down on winding roads after a hectic week... http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...P1000214-L.jpg Arrived too late to attend any talks on Friday night, just managed to pitch my tent before darkness fell and to get some dinner, which Char had kindly saved for me - thank you! Still, I spent an entertaining evening thanks to making Gary's acquaintance - very amusing chap, albeit not always deliberately... http://d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net/Augie.gif http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...1000218-XL.jpg My neighbours on the splendid campsite http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...P1000219-L.jpg The welcoming committee - Crow and Mark Manley http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...00022101-L.jpg Gareth didn't really appreciate me taking photos while he was fiddling with the clutch cable on the Mighty Harley... Char and Gabe and all the helpers and volunteers, you did an absolutely brilliant job - thank you! Still brimming with excitement, inspiration and enthusiasm, I set off on the journey home - all the way under bright blue skies... ... via my friends' house in Portishead http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...00025101-L.jpg ... with a glimpse of Wales and the Severn Bridge http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...00025001-L.jpg This weekend was one of the best meetings for me this year and I can't wait for the next one. Thank you all for making the event such a special experience. Ela |
